Giving Activity

Mission

To support East High School in achieving its mission, to work in partnership with the school to foster community, to promote student achievement, to foster alumni relations, to expand the support base, to preserve and promote the history of the school and its alumni, to assist in preserving and improving the buildings and grounds of the school and to raise funds for the benefit of the school community.

Background Statement

The East High Angel Foundation, a 501(c) 3 nonprofit organization, was founded in 2002 by a group of current and former East High School parents, alumni, and community members. Knowing that that quality public education requires financial and volunteer support from parents, alumni, policy makers, businesses, and community leaders, the Foundation was formed with the goal of striving for excellence at East High by supplementing school funding and ensuring that disadvantaged students could access school programs, while continuing to meet the needs of all students at East High.

In 2010, the East Angel Friends and Alumni Association was formed when three other organizations serving the East High community merged with the Foundation, adding alumni relations, faculty support, and historic preservation of the school and its grounds to the successful student programs developed by East High Angel Foundation. The merger streamlined administrative and fundraising by eliminating redundancies while providing better coordination among the endeavors. Most importantly, the new EAFAF pooled the existing general funds of the other organizations, allowing flexibility to react to the changing needs and priorities East High students and faculty.
