Background Statement
EPEF is a young nonprofit. It gained 501c3 status in December 2018, operated under an interim board to finish a policy manual, and installed its first official board in June 2019. That first board had not completed their first year of service when COVID hit, slowing our start.
The EPEF is an all-volunteer working board of directors. As such, we have no overhead, allowing almost all of our income to go toward our work. Our decisions and actions must align with and advance our mission and vision. 6 Pillars are the focus of our work: Experiential Learning Opportunities, Innovations in Learning, Building Community, Support of District Teachers and Staff, Student Support, and Wellness.
We are building a reputation and a capacity to serve Estes Park School District. We partner with other local nonprofits when possible and seek grants as needed. Our main fundraiser and community builder, Pumpkins & Pilsners in October, has been drawing a couple thousand attendees. People are beginning to donate to us. Teachers and staff are beginning to turn to us for funding. EPEF has an open grant request period and has the flexibility to move funds around to provide as needed.
