About The Organization:
Durango Baseball & Softball (DBS) is an entity offering baseball opportunities for children
in Durango and the only entity offering softball for young women in all of La Plata County. DBS
offers both recreational and competitive baseball and softball opportunities, during spring
summer and fall seasons. We are also a regional leader in the baseball and softball communities.
In 2025 we hosted teams from all over SW Colorado and the Four Corners region for baseball
leagues and softball games. DBS serves young people between the ages of 4-15. 700 children
participated in DBS programs in 2025, offering scholarships to all families who need help with
registration fees.
Vision & Planning for the Future:
Through careful budgeting practices, we ensure registration fees cover operating costs so that
sponsorships and donations are utilized for scholarships, facility maintenance and improvements.
As the program continues to grow and DBS serves more youth in the region, field space is
becoming the biggest challenge that the organization faces. In 2026 DBS has plans to enhance
existing field spaces and to generate capital campaigns to generate new field options for all players.
Durango Baseball & Softball (DBS) serves to instill in children and families the values of sportsmanship, service and teamwork so that they may grow to be healthy adults who love baseball and softball.
Durango Baseball & Softball (DBS) has been sponsoring amateur youth softball and baseball leagues for Durango and La Plata County boys and girls for over 20 years. DBS is a volunteer-driven, not-for-profit organization with 501(c)3 status.
DBS became affiliated with Little League in 2012 and was Little League District (#4) with Cortez, Bayfield, Ignacio and Pagosa Springs. DBS became an independent organization in 2020 to allow more scheduling flexibility in our rural, mountain community.
In 2017, DBS added a fall baseball season and now draws teams from all over southwest Colorado to play in spring and fall leagues. In 2019, DBS added softball to the organization to provide additional support to Durango softball families.
