PlayFest attracts well-known actors, playwrights and directors to Durango to workshop new plays, hold free events for the community, and engage audiences with staged readings. Audiences have a window into the creative process, and interact with professionals during post-reading Q&A sessions and other events. PlayFest is committed to educational opportunities through its successful internship program and the recently launched REAL-WORLD THEATRE speaker series for youth.
Durango PlayFest empowers playwrights by providing a collaborative environment to develop new work with professional actors and directors, culminating in thought-provoking play readings and talkbacks that engage audiences. We create educational and employment opportunities for students and the community, while contributing to the economic and cultural vitality of Southwest Colorado.
