PlayFest attracts well-known actors, playwrights and directors to Durango to workshop new plays, hold free events for the community, and engage audiences with staged readings. Audiences have a window into the creative process, and interact with professionals during post-reading Q&A sessions and other events. PlayFest is committed to educational opportunities through its successful internship program and the recently launched REAL-WORLD THEATRE speaker series for youth.
To attract nationally known and emerging artists to Durango, to engage and educate the community while bolstering economic vitality through the development of new works in an intimate and collaborative forum. We strive to make professional artistic expertise and experience accessible to students, educators and community members in the Four Corners region and provide a nurturing environment for playwrights to develop their new work.
