Background Statement
Dream Centers began in 2011 when passionate Colorado Springs residents felt led to address gaps in care in the community. Using prayer and research, they discovered three of Colorado Springs’ greatest needs were for affordable, specialized women’s healthcare, behavioral health, and a high-challenge, high-support program for families wanting to exit homelessness. Dreams Centers launched the Women’s Clinic in 2011 and Mary’s Home in 2015 to address these needs, tackling three of the greatest social determinants of poor health. These needs are still pressing in the community, and Dream Centers’ vision is that every teen girl and woman would have access to free, integrated, and specialized healthcare, and every female-headed family experiencing homelessness would have the opportunity for upward mobility and to exit homelessness permanently. Both programs are based on evidence-based research and create lasting change in clients.
