At the Douglas County Healthy Youth Coalition, we believe that when young people thrive, the entire community thrives. However, our youth face a range of challenges that can hinder their well-being. Our mission is to equip them with the tools they need to overcome these obstacles, improve their mental health, and build resilience. Through education, support, and resources, we aim to foster healthier coping mechanisms, stronger community connections, and a deeper understanding of substance misuse.
How Do We Do This?
Empower Youth Voice & Leadership: Through our Youth Leadership Board, we engage young people in meaningful action and decision-making.
Educate Parents & Trusted Adults: We provide knowledge and skills to help adults better support youth in navigating challenges.
Support Community-Based Interventions: We initiate and promote strategies that enhance protective factors and reduce risk factors for youth.
Advocate for Youth Well-being: We advocate at the local, state, and federal levels to ensure policies and practices reflect the needs of youth and the broader community.
