Testimonials

"The Rocky Mountain Chapter of USA Dance feels that the beauty and significant historical value of the Turnverein is important to the community."
Susan Lowe, USA Dance, Rocky Mountain Chapter Board.

"... we feel extremely fortunate to use their space for the most important fundraising event we hold. The Turnverein is known for its prolific selection of dance events, and the Colorado Symphony is known for performing exquisite music. Both organizations share the mission of engaging and enhancing our community through the arts."
Jerome H. Kern, Colorado Symphony CEO & Co-Chair

"The dance floor brings joy to many participants and in my opinion; the facility is the premium location in Denver to hold events. The Denver Turnverein is a gem inside and out, that contributes to the historic character of the city and adds value to the lives of Coloradans."
Michele Delgado, Tango Colorado

"The first day I moved to Colorado in 2006, I attended Sunday night West Coast Swing at the Turnverein and have been hooked on the organization ever since. Because the Turnverein is a membership organization, it helps bring the dancing community closer together.  As a new person in the Denver area, I quickly made dancing friends through the Turnverein that have enriched my life here in Colorado.  Because the Turnverein offers such a rich and varied assortment of dance styles, I have expanded my enjoyment of dancing to include ballroom and country.  I encourage everyone to try this healthy physical and social activity. Dancing is good for the heart, soul, and mind."   Art Abington, President, Denver Turnverein and Treasurer, Rocky Mountain Swing Dance of Colorado.

Mission

We are a non-profit organization focused on dancing, dance education, and promotion of the arts.

Background Statement

Founded in Denver in 1865, the Denver Turnverein is the oldest organization of its type in Colorado. We are affiliated with the national American Turners organization, started by German immigrants fleeing war torn Europe in 1848. Turnvereins sprang up around the US to promote social activities, physical fitness, and healthy minds. In August, 2022, the Denver Turnverein celebrated its 100 year anniversary in their historic building at the intersection of E. 16th Ave. and N. Clarkson St.
