Help Us Raise $10,000 in 2025 for DTL's Share The Tools Fund 💙🛠️💛

People need tools to keep their homes comfortable, functional, and safe. Organizations need tools for community workdays, facility upkeep, and other mission-driven activities. Our Share the Tools Fund gets tools in the hands of the people & organizations who need them most.

How It Works

Every dollar you donate gets added into a fund. This money pays for the tools, space, and staff needed to ensure that underrepresented individuals and financially restricted organizations have access to our programs.

Your contributions directly support:

  • Expanding our capacity to offer Financial Assistance to individuals and community partners

  • Nurturing partnerships with values-aligned organizations and ensuring diverse voices shape DTL's growth

  • Adding the most in-demand tools to our community collection to best meet member needs

  • Repairing and maintaining the 6,000+ tools that keep Denver DIY-ing

Impact

Since Share the Tools Fund’s inception, we’ve been able to give big discounts on memberships, classes, and open shop hours to hundreds of people in our community.

  • People Given 25%-50% Off our Programs: 343

  • Orgs Given 50%-100% Off our Programs: 38

  • Estimated Total Savings: $32,875

AND we've been able to launch new free community events: Repair Fairs and Skillshares!! In 2025 we hosted

  • 2 DTL REPAIR FAIRS, where community members can repair everyday items, learning valuable repair skills, while reducing waste and connecting with neighbors.
  • 1 DTL SKILLSHARE, featuring a few short presentations from community members sharing their projects, lessons learned, and inspiration, followed by time to chat and connect.

The Share the Tools Fund allows us to support dozens of organizations and community projects, helping to:

  • Build 29 school garden plots for East Middle School.
  • Repair fences at the Department of Housing Stability.
  • Build infrastructure for food delivery for Denver Food Rescue.
  • Build Safe Outdoor Spaces for people experiencing homelessness, via Radian and the Colorado Village Collaborative.
  • Build weatherproof shelters for Denver Community Fridges.
  • Provide free memberships and classes to fundraise for dozens of organizations, including DUG, DCPA, Bikes Together, DU’s CAPE program, SustainEd Farms, Denver Slow Food, Extreme Community Makeover, WeeCycle, and more.
  • Nurture partnerships and member discounts with local like-minded businesses like Perks Deconstruction, ReStore, ReCreative, Austin Hardwoods, Woodcraft, Rockler, and the Denver Public Library.

As long as there’s money in the fund, we can keep sharing the tools in a way that's both equitable and sustainable for our community.

Please GIVE TODAY to help us reach our $10,000 goal and keep Denver building together!

Giving Activity

Mission

The Denver Tool Library provides affordable access to over 6,000 tools and has evolved beyond merely lending tools; it has become a hub for skill-sharing workshops, community projects, and eco-conscious initiatives, adapting to meet the diverse needs of its members while staying true to its core values of accessibility, sustainability, and community empowerment.

We remove barriers to tool access—including cost, space, and knowledge—so that everyone can have the resources, and the knowledge, they need to make and maintain the lives they imagine.

Whether you’re a first-time drill user or a seasoned builder, there’s a place for you at the DTL.

Join us to save money, reduce waste, and build community.

Background Statement

1) ACCESS: Tools are expensive, take up space, and may only get used once or twice per year. By pooling our resources together we create a much greater and more affordable variety of items for everyone.

2) SUSTAINABILITY: The process it takes to manufacture the items we buy often leaves a significant negative impact. By building the things we need and repairing them (rather than buying new), and sharing tools instead of duplicating them in every house, we reduce this negative impact on our planet.

3) COMMUNITY: Our digital age offers unlimited potential for connection but at times leaves us isolated or out of touch with our physical bodies. Community oriented spaces like the DTL connect us directly to people who have similar passions to scheme, learn, tinker, and build, while we experience the satisfaction of working with our hands.

4) SKILL-BUILDING: Whether it's through classes, resource recommendations, or shared knowledge from staff, peers, and volunteers, every person can learn how to use the tools they need to express themselves and accomplish their projects.
