With the loss of other spay and neuter programs and a scary economic outlook at best, the need in Denver has never been greater, and we’re stepping up to meet it.

In 2025, we launched a spay and neuter voucher, providing free spay/neuter, vaccines, and microchips to cats in the Denver Metro area. This program is now a core program for Denver Kittens along with our rescue effort.

We’ve already fixed over 100 cats this year, with very little marketing. Of those, 45 were beloved family pets—cats who will never again risk “accidental litters,” sick kittens, behavior issues like spraying, or deadly illnesses like pyometra and mammary cancer. With every surgery, we also provide vaccines that protect against rabies and panleuk, and microchips that reunite families if their cat is lost. And all of this care is offered at absolutely no cost to families, many of whom are struggling under Denver’s skyrocketing cost of living.

We are currently the only organization in the Denver area providing spay, neuter, vaccines, and microchips at no cost—not low cost, but no cost. Families are depending on us, and the cats need us.

We've also pulled over 100 cats from euthanasia lists and found them loving homes. At the heart of our mission is this simple truth: spay and neuter saves lives—and it keeps cats out of rescue in the first place. With your help, we can meet the urgent need today and build a brighter, healthier future for Denver’s cats tomorrow. We firmly believe that supporting spay and neuter supports rescue efforts by keep cats OUT of rescue in the first place.

Our mission:

  • Provide free and low-cost spay and neuter for cats and kittens
  • Support Trap, Neuter, Return (TNR) efforts
  • Provide rescue for social cats and kittens

Background Statement

Our founder, Niki, originally started out fostering kittens and cats for other rescues. In November of 2017, she lost her soul kitty, Tecwyn, and she wanted a way to honor him, so she contacted a local rescue and asked about fostering. That’s how her cat Ruthie walked into her life. She was her first foster, and she ended up adopting her - the kitty who started all of this. Five years and nearly 300 cat and dog fosters later, she knew it was time to do more.

After seeing so many kittens suffer, so many cats and dogs lose their home, get dumped or left to fend for themselves on the streets, and animal after animal on euthanasia lists at shelters, she became passionate about spay and neuter.

At Denver Kittens, we believe spay and neuter is the only true way to end the suffering of so many animals, while reducing overpopulation.
