Let’s 86 the Stigma
Restaurants, cafes, and hospitality spaces aren’t just where we gather for a mea they’re community hubs, creative spaces, and second homes for the people who work in them. Behind every plate and poured drink is a person showing up with heart, hustle, and dedication, often while navigating challenges that go unseen.
The food, beverage, and hospitality industry is one of the most rewarding, yet also among the most demanding. With long hours, high-pressure environments, and limited access to traditional support systems, it’s no surprise that many workers feel stretched thin. Many face financial barriers or don’t feel comfortable turning to traditional mental health care due to stigma or scheduling issues.
This is where CHOW (Culinary Hospitality Outreach and Wellness) comes in.
What is CHOW doing?
CHOW was created by and for hospitality workers, because no one understands the industry like those who live it every day. We support our community with peer-led, culturally attuned programming that speaks their language and meets their needs.
We focus on the often-overlooked parts of wellness: mental health, substance use support, and holistic care. Whether someone is seeking connection, resources, or a safe space to talk, CHOW is here to help them feel seen, supported, and never alone.
We offer:
Peer support groups led by people with real industry experience
Education tailored to hospitality realities
Fun, prosocial events that help folks reconnect and recharge
We believe in early support, meeting people before they reach a breaking point. Our approach is grounded in empathy, science, and real stories. One person’s journey can light the path for someone else.
CHOW isn’t just a program. It’s a movement.
We’re building a community where hospitality workers can thrive- together.
Will you support CHOW in recognition of Mental Health Month this May?
