Join us in celebrating everyday philanthropy! Together, we have raised more than $38 million for Colorado nonprofits since 1986.
At Community Shares of Colorado, we’re dedicated to strengthening local communities by bringing together donors, businesses, and nonprofits across Colorado. Founded on the belief that everyone deserves an opportunity to make a difference, we make giving simple and accessible through workplace giving campaigns and partnerships with socially responsible companies.
Our focus is on grassroots philanthropy, empowering people to support causes they care about through small, consistent donations directly from their paycheck. We provide training, campaign support, and connection-building between nonprofits and workplaces, giving nonprofits and businesses the tools they need to grow sustainably.
Each year, we celebrate community-minded companies, generous donors, and outstanding nonprofits to honor the dedication that makes Colorado stronger. Through our work, we advocate for workplace giving and foster resilient, thriving communities across the state.

Background Statement
In 1986, 8 Colorado nonprofits joined together to change the face of workplace giving. Originally called The Alternative Fund, our organization gave a home to nonprofit organizations that did not fit the mold of existing workplace giving federations. Our members included grassroots nonprofits and new issue areas such as social justice, respect for all individuals, environmental conservation, and community-owned arts. Soon after, our founders chose the name "Community Shares of Colorado" and began actively working to expand charitable choice in workplace giving campaigns.
Community Shares' first workplace giving campaign raised just over $3,000 dollars. Community Shares reached its first million dollar campaign in 2002 and today we manage over $4 million in nonprofit funds. We were honored with the inaugural 2017 Bill Daniels Ethics Award and the BBB Torch Award. We connect employees across the state to their favorite charities and causes.
Community Shares' contributions to the nonprofit community have been recognized both state-wide and nationally for outstanding nonprofit service. Thousands of donors annually choose Community Shares as their choice for workplace giving. With no minimum donation amounts, we serve as the proud philanthropic partner of everyone who is willing to work together to make a difference.
