A nonprofit organization

Crow Canyon Archaeological Center is a nonprofit organization located near Mesa Verde National Park in southwest Colorado. This year we are celebrating 40 years of impact in Colorado. We are also a designated Colorado Enterprise Zone Contribution Project.         

When you support Crow Canyon, you:

  1. Make it possible for school children to expand their understanding of the world in which we live, develop new perspectives on the rich history of the Southwest, and apply lessons of the past to the challenges of today and tomorrow.
  2. Enable ongoing dialogue and engagement with Native partners to ensure that our research and curricula are respectful of the generations of ancestors who have occupied this land before us.
  3. Help advance critical scientific research in a way that inspires all of us to lean into our curiosity, listen with an open mind, and build a legacy for the future.

Mission

The mission of Crow Canyon Archaeological Center is to empower present and future generations by making the human past accessible and relevant through archaeological research, experiential education, and American Indian knowledge.

Background Statement

Crow Canyon Archaeological Center was created in 1983 to develop and deliver educational programming based on our research, and to make significant contributions to understanding the human past and the broader human experience. Since it was founded, the Center has matured into an organization that is internationally renowned and respected. In addition to quality educational and archaeological programs, the Center works collaboratively with American Indian partners to protect and preserve cultural resources.
