CrossPurpose is a non-profit organization abolishing relational, economic, and spiritual poverty through career and community development. To that end, we offer a free, six-month career and community development program for unemployed and underemployed adults. We combine personal support, soft skills development, career training, and job placement to address holistic issues that hold our neighbors back from escaping poverty.

To date, more than 850 people have graduated and found long-term careers with promotional opportunities, generating over $97 million of wealth since the program's inception. To date, more than 2100 men, women, and children have escaped poverty through CrossPurpose' programs.

Our job training spans 15 career tracks in high demand fields including construction, medical, culinary, administrative, and trucking industries. We offer our program completely free to our participants, called Leaders.

By giving to support our mission, you help provide opportunity for Leaders to realize their own potential and create generational change.

Here are some examples of how your gift can directly impact the people in our program:

$50 - Provides CrossPurpose curriculum and classroom supplies for one Leader

$100 - Covers the cost of job interview training for 3 Leaders

$200 - Covers a monthly stipend given to a Leader to provide necessities while they train for a new career

$300 - Covers the cost of supplies for a Leader who becomes a trained welder

$500 - Covers the cost for 2 Leaders to receive administrative assistant certifications

$1,500 - Covers the cost of a weekly relationship-building community meal for Leaders and volunteers

$3,000 - Covers the cost of a graduation ceremony, celebrating a cohort of Leaders and their new careers

Mission

The mission of CrossPurpose is to abolish economic, spiritual, and relational poverty through the power through career and community development.

Background Statement

In 2008, a group of new Northeast Denver residents affected by the impact of poverty on their neighbors set out to serve their community and walk with the poor. Following the traditional relief model, we worked with over 5,000 people in poverty over the next four years, including single moms, refugees, the homeless, and those previously incarcerated.

But by 2012, we were struck by how little impact our work was making long-term in the lives of our neighbors. It was becoming clear that many traditional approaches to poverty alleviation were not working. In fact, many of the systems in place were actually keeping our neighbors in poverty.

To make any significant change, we realized we had to stop asking the question "How do we help someone in poverty?" and begin asking, "how do we get someone out of poverty?" A holistic development model, that focused on the person in poverty, rather than the individual symptoms that accompany it, proved to be the answer to that question.

In 2012, we piloted a career development program with 19 families and in a short time, we began to see substantial, life-changing, and economically empowering results.

After our first pilot class, we took all that we had learned and launched a 501c3, called CrossPurpose. Today we have seen over 850 men and women graduate and become one step closer to building generational wealth for themselves and their families.
