Right now in Crestone, there is a young martial artist who trains hard, shows up early, and carries more than she should at home. She is not about to quit because she lacks heart. She is about to lose her place because of cost.
In our rural community, Enshin Crestone is the only year-round youth program.
It is a safe third space in a community marked by isolation, poverty, mental health strain, and substance use.
On the mat, kids learn discipline, confidence, and a way to put their stress somewhere that will hold it.
For families here, dues, gear, rides, testing, and travel to compete are often impossible. Another student, living with physical and emotional challenges, is just now finding a body and a voice he can trust. Without a scholarship, that progress stops at the door. Cottonwood Restoration exists so rural youth are not cut from the only enrichment they have because of their zip code or their household income.
Your gift does more than cover scholarships, rides, and gear. It keeps a young person in the one year-round space where they can build lifelong discipline, focus, and executive functioning—the ability to show up, stay with hard things, and trust themselves—and it can send them beyond the valley to compete, so that confidence has somewhere real to go.

At Cottonwood Restoration, our mission is to empower rural youth to become Warriors in the Garden — confident, capable leaders who master mind and body fitness, embrace holistic living, and develop real-world vocational skills through enrichment and deep connection to themselves, their community, and nature.
Cottonwood Restoration was founded in 2020 as a martial arts-based youth program focused on physical discipline, confidence, and leadership. As needs in our rural community grew, we expanded into year-round enrichment—including after-school martial arts, homeschool programming, agriculture and food systems education, and structured leadership development—for youth and families in Crestone and Saguache County. In a rural area with limited year-round options, we provide consistent access to fitness, skill-building, mentorship, and positive activity beyond the school calendar. Our programs emphasize leadership pathways: advanced students train to teach, mentor younger participants, take on real responsibility, and develop the confidence and practical skills that support productive, successful adult lives. Through scholarship support, transportation assistance, and leadership roles, we remove barriers so rural youth can grow into capable, purpose-driven contributors in their families and community.
