Welcome to Congregation Rodef Shalom!
We are a vibrant and growing egalitarian community located in Denver, Colorado.
We believe that Judaism must be deeply meaningful and compelling— and responsive to the needs and concerns of our people and our world.
We believe in the power of a supportive community, engaging Torah, and soulful prayer;
We believe that through connecting deeply with our sacred community, our inner selves, and God, we can be inspired to have a profound impact on the world in which we live.
We believe that the intellectual, the emotional, and the spiritual are profoundly connected, and we strive to integrate them through prayer and study.
We dare to dream of a better tomorrow, and we struggle to create a better world for those who will follow us.
Rodef Shalom is a Conservative synagogue in Denver, CO, engaging Jews of diverse backgrounds in egalitarian, participatory and dynamic halakhic Judaism. With a growing membership of over 360 families and plans to expand beyond 400, our mission is to cultivate life-enriching Jewish experiences through soulful prayer, impactful social action, inspiring learning, and powerful community relationships.
Conservative: We have deeply halachic/traditional Jewish practices combined with evolving, dynamic, egalitarian ethos. People of all genders are invited to participate in all aspects of our ritual practice. Our approach to prayer and learning balances tradition and imagination. We are committed to awakening the spirit and reanimating Conservative Judaism in Denver and beyond.
Joy: Judaism both invites and even commands us to experience “oneg,” which means pleasure or delight, in our celebrations. Rodef takes seriously the need for regular joy; we allow ourselves to dance, sing, and give thanks. When we are living this value, we find ourselves more connected to others. While Jews have known suffering, isolation, hardship, and rejection, Rodef has the religious courage to rejoice.
Shabbat-centered: Rodef views Shabbat as a gift to the Jewish people, and therefore, it is our community’s most vibrant day of the week. We come together on this day to pray, reconnect and fill-up our spiritual cup. Our educational programs are open as we encourage our younger learners to not just learn about Judaism, but to experience it in “real time” along with our entire community.
Social Justice: We are committed to partnering with God in healing our broken world. We believe that working to achieve dignity and justice is a central expression of our faith.
Complexity & Respect: We are not afraid to hold complexity and nuance. We welcome those who are wrestling with multiple truths. Dialogue, curiosity and inclusivity are central tenets of our community. It is encouraged to question and seek deeper meaning in respectful ways, places, and times.
Care & Belonging: We strive to treat one another with compassion and to show up for one another in times of joy and grief -- and everything in between
