Community Office for Resource Efficiency - CORE

The Community Office for Resource Efficiency (CORE) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to accelerating climate action in Pitkin, Eagle, and Garfield Counties. Since 1994, CORE has collaborated with homeowners, businesses, government agencies, utilities, and community members to advance innovative climate solutions that enhance community well-being and contribute to a healthier, more sustainable future for all.

The built environment produces 56% of our region’s greenhouse gas emissions. By providing essential funding, expert technical support, and connections to qualified contractors, CORE empowers local residents to adopt solutions that address the primary sources of greenhouse gas emissions in our region. CORE is funded through service fees, grants, and private philanthropy.

In 2025, CORE invested $2.5 million in the community for energy efficiency projects, raised over $1.6 million in grants and donations, and hosted our first ever Green Expo event. We could not have done this without the support of our generous donors, supporters, and community.

Mission

CORE is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization urgently reducing carbon emissions through optimizing efficiency, electrification, and resiliency of the built environment, while advancing innovative climate-saving solutions.
