Background Statement
For over 60 years, Colorado State Thespians, an affiliate of the Educational Theatre Association, has provided educational opportunities to young actors, designers, technicians, filmmakers, playwrights, and more in an encouraging, inclusive environment at the annual Colorado State Thespian Conference (ThesCon).
ThesCon gives space for students grades 6-12 to gather, build community, develop skills, and share their talents with the broader community of theatre youth from across Colorado. Arts learning experiences foster self esteem, work force readiness skills, and stronger emotional stability in student who participate versus those who do not.
Colorado Thespians also strives to support and honor the work and professional development of theatre educators all across Colorado and the surrounding states through the Colorado Thespians Educator Conference (CTEC). This conference aims to equip educators to meet the demands of a twenty-first century classroom and retain educators through a collegial network of education and arts professionals.
