Testimonials

"We are grateful to be a member of the Colorado Rural Health Center. Their mission to enhance healthcare services in the state by providing information, education, and support to address rural health issues is a game changer. As members, we have access to countless resources and services to provide our community with the best rural health care has to offer. We are grateful for our relationship." - Kay Whitley, Spanish Peaks Regional Health Center

“Lake City Area Medical Center works hard to enhance our sustainability through donations and grants. We have been so blessed by the many opportunities we’ve received for various resources and grants through the Colorado Rural Health Center. From Seed Grants to Sustainability Grants, CRHC has provided resources for further engagement and education to assist our staff in creating and sustaining needed services in the most remote county in the lower 48 states. We are very thankful for CRHC!" - Rachel Moore, Lake City Area Medical Center

"We love our CRHC group! You all have helped us so much throughout the years and it's the first place I go to for rural clinic info with regards to all things medical for the state of Colorado! Conferences when we can go are always so helpful and give us a true sense of where things are at." - Amber Hickert Practice Manager, Pediatrics Associates Professionals, LLC

Mission

Our mission is to enhance healthcare services in the state by providing information, education, linkages, tools, and energy toward addressing rural health issues. Our vision is to improve healthcare services available in rural communities to ensure that all rural Coloradans have access to comprehensive, affordable, high quality healthcare.

Background Statement

Created in 1991, the Colorado Rural Health Center (CRHC) serves as the Colorado State Office of Rural Health. Every state operates an Office of Rural Health, and CRHC is one of only three in the country that is structured as a non-profit organization. It was formed by a group of organizations and legislators to identify and address rural health needs. CRHC started with one employee, one grant from the Federal Office of Rural Health Policy and a budget of $38,000. The staff has grown to 22 employees with an annual operating budget of over $3 million. In spite of our growth, our vision has always remained the same, to improve healthcare services in rural communities and to ensure that all Coloradans have access to comprehensive, affordable, high quality healthcare.

CRHC has a strong reputation statewide and nationally as an innovative leader in addressing rural healthcare issues. CRHC partners with many well-respected organizations at a federal, state and local level to raise funds to support programs that address both general and specific healthcare issues in rural Colorado.
