The Colorado Federation of Garden Clubs In, (CFGC) serves and supports our community through education, conservation, horticulture and landscape design.
CFGC is raising funds to support our educational programs in gardening, environmental stewardship, landscape design, and floral arts. Your contribution helps us provide classes, workshops, expert speakers, and grants to local garden clubs empowering them to lead community projects and educational outreach across the state.
We are a network of garden clubs united by a love for gardening and a commitment to environmental responsibility. Through education, collaboration, and hands-on involvement, we believe we can cultivate lasting change in Colorado and beyond.Certified Permaculture Leadership
One of our clubs has achieved an extraordinary milestone: nearly all members are now certified in Permaculture, a design philosophy that models food production and human habitats after nature’s own balanced, zero‑waste ecosystems. This commitment positions our members at the forefront of sustainable land stewardship.
Coloradoscaping
Many of our club’s advocate Coloradoscaping and support our pollinators by using native plants. We also use plants that have acclimated to our climate.
Community Gardens That Feed and Heal
We create and maintain vegetable and sensory gardens that nourish both body and spirit. Our gardens support: Nourish Meals in Littleton, Samaritan House in Greeley, Care and Share Greenhouse in Colorado Springs and Ronald McDonald House in Aurora.
Youth Involvement
One of our clubs partners with two schools in Colorado Springs, supporting the development of school gardens and mentoring student garden clubs. This hands‑on learning cultivates future environmental stewards.
Gardens of Remembrance
We honor fallen soldiers, first responders, and loved ones through memorial gardens at: Fort Logan National Cemetery (Denver), Anna Gimmestad Memorial Garden, Linn Grove Cemetery and Veterans Memorial (Greeley) and Memorial Park (Colo Springs).
These gardens serve as living tributes—places of reflection, gratitude, and peace.
Scholarships for Future Stewards
CFGC Inc. offers an annual scholarship supporting students pursuing degrees in environmental sciences, horticulture, and related fields. We invest in the next generation of ecological leaders.
National Programs with Local Impact
The garden clubs also participate in various programs such as PLANT AMERICA and Blue and Gold Star Memorials. We support the Colorado Forest Service in reforesting areas devastated by wildfires, drought, and flooding by contributing to Plant a Tree.

The Colorado Federation of Garden Clubs serves and supports our community through education, conservation, horticulture and landscape design.
The Colorado Federation of Garden Clubs was born from a vision shared by Denver landscape architect Mr. S. R. DeBoer, who believed that “beautiful cities were created by interested garden club members.” Inspired by this idea, Mrs. A. G. Fish pioneered the organization of garden clubs across Colorado.
On January 21, 1930, a meeting was held at the Daniels Fisher Tearoom, where plans were made to formally organize in Colorado Springs that May. At that historic gathering, the Colorado Federation of Garden Clubs officially came into being, and Mrs. Fish was elected as the first state president, a role she held until 1936.
Under her guidance and inspiration:
- Numerous garden clubs were founded across the state.
- The Federation joined the National Council of State Garden Clubs (now known as National Garden Clubs, Inc.) in 1933, marking its place on the national stage.
