Supporting the CDC will help provide affordable dance classes, unique performance opportunities, and community programs for dancers in northern CO.
I first joined the Colorado Dance Collective (CDC) in 2010, looking for a place to continue dancing as an adult and to connect with others who shared that same passion. What I found was so much more than a dance company-it was a community. For five seasons, I had the joy of performing with CDC's ballet, jazz, and hip hop companies, growing as both a dancer and a person surrounded by people who embodied both creativity and community. Those years remain some of my most cherished memories, filled with rehearsals and the unmatched thrill of taking the stage-or sometimes street-together.
After completing graduate school and returning to Colorado, I was eager to get involved again-this time behind the scenes. I joined CDC's Board of Directors in 2020, stepping into a leadership role during one of the most challenging times for performing arts organizations: the pandemic. I was in awe of how CDC navigated those uncertain months with resilience and innovation. The company quickly pivoted to virtual classes and even hosted online "performances", ensuring that dance-and the sense of connection it brings-remained accessible when people needed it most. This adaptability reflects the heart of what CDC has always stood for: community, connection, creativity, and perseverance.
Over my five years on the board, I had the opportunity to help revamp the organization's website and social media strategy. It was fulfilling to help tell CDC's story in a way that captured its energy and amplified its reach. What inspired me most, though, was watching CDC continue to grow-not just in size, but in impact. Each season, the company found new ways to bring people together, celebrate artistry, and make dance accessible to more audiences across Northern Colorado.
What makes CDC truly special is its inclusivity. It offers a home for adult dancers of all styles and skill levels, providing space for continued growth and expression beyond formal studios. It's a place where anyone and everyone can come together over a shared love for movement-a place where people lift each other up, celebrate each other's achievements, and remind us all why the arts matter.
Looking back over the past fifteen years since I first walked into a CDC dance class, I'm in awe of how far the organization has come. Its role in the community has expanded exponentially, not just as a performing arts group but as a cornerstone of culture and arts in Greeley. The company's dedication to artistic excellence and community engagement continues to inspire me, even after stepping away from my board role in 2025 as Vice Chair.
I am deeply proud to have been a part of the Colorado Dance Collective's journey-from the stage to the boardroom-and even prouder to continue supporting their mission from the audience. CD has truly kept its mission in motion, and I can't wait to see where that motion leads next.

The mission of the Colorado Dance Collective is to create a spirit of collaboration and learning among our dancers, our colleagues in the fine arts, and the community at large by providing high quality classes, workshops, and performances at minimal cost to participants.
The Colorado Dance Collective (CDC) was established in July of 2009 and later that year, qualified for non-profit status under section 501(c)3 of the Internal Revenue Code.
Now in our 16th year, the CDC has grown to include five separate auditioned companies: Ballet, Jazz, Hip Hop, Tap, and Swing, Stage & Social. Our dancers are adults, 18 and older, in all stages of life, who find common ground in their passion for dance as a performing art. Under the guidance of our volunteer Artistic Directors and Board of Directors, the CDC is home to several community outreach programs.
While we are active in the community in many ways, our two main outreach programs are Hip Hop Madness and The Wardrobe. Hip Hop Madness is a free all-day hip hop dance workshop produced by the CDC since 2014. The Wardrobe is a donation-supported collection of new and gently used dance attire and costumes available to dancers in northern Colorado.
In addition to Hip Hop Madness and the Wardrobe, the CDC also performs at various community events throughout the Northern Colorado area, bringing the joy of dance to our fellow Coloradans. Each year the CDC also presents two major dance productions. Our performances are well attended by a broad range of community members who appreciate the diverse dance and music styles presented in a dynamic multimedia format. Our productions feature each of our dance companies, along with guest pieces from other local dance groups.
Every December, the CDC provides an evening of holiday cheer: "Garlands & Ghouls". Our annual showcase each Spring offers thought provoking and fun-loving dances focused on a theme.
The Showcase theme for 2024 was “Wanderlust - Wander through a world of Dance", featuring the 5 companies of the CDC: Ballet, Hip Hop, Jazz, Swing/Social/Stage and Tap plus Troupe Sidysaan and the Greeley West High School Ballet Folklorico.
On August 1, 2026, the CDC will present the Second Annual Day of Dance, a vibrant educational and interactive celebration of dance. Day of Dance is a free, public event featuring the CDC and culminating in a lively social dance lesson open to all.
Since 2019, the CDC affectionately calls The Greeley Warehouse home. This space is also home to other local artists and musicians, as well as independent dance and fitness teachers with whom we share our studios. The CDC uses this studio space to host weekly adult dance classes open to the public for a nominal charge of $5 per class and run weekly rehearsals for our performance companies.
It is our vision to be a diverse and inclusive company of dancers known for our innovative, high quality productions and service oriented community interactions which promote dance as an integral part of our culture.
Together, our artistic directors, dancers, and Board of Directors work hard to achieve this vision each and every day. We are grateful to our donors and community for the support they offer to our non-profit dance repertoire company
