At the Colorado Black Health Collaborative (CBHC), our mission is to achieve health equity for Black individuals and families in Colorado by healing the wounds of generational trauma and dismantling systemic barriers that have historically impeded access to quality healthcare. We recognize that the challenges faced by our community are not merely the result of individual choices but are deeply intertwined with the historical and systemic injustices that have led to health disparities and inequities.
At the Colorado Black Health Collaborative (CBHC), our mission is deeply rooted in the historical struggles of Black individuals and families. We acknowledge the profound impact of enslavement, which has left a legacy of generational trauma that continues to shape the health and well-being of our communities today. This history is not merely a chapter of the past; it is an enduring reality that manifests in the form of systemic racism and oppression, creating barriers to health equity that we are resolute in dismantling.
Over the past 16 years, our journey has been transformative. We began as a vision, fueled by the passion of community advocates, and have evolved into an operation led by dedicated volunteers and board members. Today, we are proud to be guided by a powerful executive leadership team of Black women who embody the spirit of resilience and commitment to social justice. Their leadership reflects the progress we have made in our civil rights journey and serves as a beacon of hope for our community.
As we look ahead to the next five years, our commitment to uplifting, transforming, empowering, and changing Black lives remains steadfast. We envision a future where health equity is achieved, and every Black individual has access to the resources and support they need to thrive. We will continue to expand our programs, enhance our advocacy efforts, and foster partnerships that amplify our mission. By engaging our community and leveraging our collective strength, we will drive systemic change that addresses the root causes of health disparities. Together, we will empower Black families, uplift their voices, and transform the healthcare landscape in Colorado, ensuring that health justice is not just a goal but a reality for all.
