in Colorado's Black community. We believe lasting change happens when
communities lead the way!
We revolutionize Black health by
blending LOVE:
healing, connection, and care
with POWER:
organizing, leadership, and advocacy.
Our organization was founded by identifying, organizing and resourcing our greatest assets in our community:
the BRILLIANCE of our Black Health Champions! That work continues through
Project HairCare, Black Mamas Matter, Kids in Therapeutic Sports, and Tackling Menthol in the Black Community.

Mission
At the Colorado Black Health Collaborative (CBHC), our mission is to achieve health equity for Black Coloradans by healing through love and building through power. We work to mend the wounds of generational trauma and dismantle the systemic barriers that continue to shape health outcomes.
Health for us is more than the absence of disease, it’s the presence of wholeness. We honor the interconnection between body, mind, spirit, and community. Through culturally grounded programs, leadership development, and grassroots organizing, we are cultivating a future where every Black individual and family can thrive.
Background Statement
The Colorado Black Health Collaborative was born from the voices of the community. In 2008, after a statewide town hall on health disparities, Black residents called for an organization of their own—one that could speak truth to power while caring deeply for the people.
Over the past 17 years, CBHC has evolved from a volunteer collective into a trusted force for Black health equity in Colorado. Guided by a visionary board, leadership team, and a growing network of community health champions, CBHC’s work spans behavioral health, maternal health, community organizing, and systems innovation.
As we look ahead, we’re expanding our impact through our Love + Power strategy: investing in programs that heal, and building a multiracial, intergenerational coalition that transforms systems. Together, we’re creating new models of care, connection, and collective power for generations to come.
