CSCA is located in the heart of Colorado Springs and serves a diverse and vibrant community of families.
Founded by a group of local parents and educational leaders, Colorado Springs Charter Academy is a public charter school that opened in the fall of 2005. We believe that our children need a challenging, stimulating, and motivating environment to fulfill their true potential. They need a school that is committed to academic excellence but also develops well-rounded students and responsible and accountable citizens. They need a school with high academic standards and a rigorous curriculum that includes foreign language instruction. They need a place where parents volunteer their time and talents to help their children grow and learn. We are excited to be that school in Colorado Springs.
We have a large community of parents, neighbors, staff, and students who actively participate in sports, liberal arts, events, and activities that enrich our student body and benefit our local community.
Our Vision
We kindle enthusiasm to craft bold and effective citizen-scholars
Our Mission
Colorado Springs Charter Academy is love for community expressed in action. We are entrusted with dear purchase, to bind our students’ days of innocence and joy with structure, content, and character. To accomplish this, we cultivate the individual potential of all our students by providing academically rigorous, proven, content-rich educational programs; developing incisive analytical skills and well-stocked minds; fostering self-advocacy, passion, citizenship, and exemplary character; holding individualized high expectations; involving and welcoming parents and community members.
Our academic background is based on the Core Knowledge Sequence. The Core Knowledge Sequence is designed to provide students with a rich vocabulary and an expansive base of knowledge on which future instruction can build, broaden, and deepen. The sequence systematically delivers detailed, explicit grade-specific content that can be taught consistently year after year. This content is organized to spiral through the grade levels, becoming more sophisticated and detailed in successive grades. Ultimately, The Core Knowledge Sequence enables students to draw from a deep well of knowledge and retain information longer. At the same time, skill development is enhanced when the teaching of skills occurs in the context of meaningful (and memorable) content.
In addition to the Core Knowledge Sequence, CSCA emphasizes the teaching of basic skills with a traditional approach built on structure, student character development, high expectations for students and staff, mutual respect, and academic excellence.
