Our 30th Year of Honoring Top Math Students in Colorado!
Since its founding in 1995-96, Colorado Mathematics Awards (CMA) has tracked performance by Colorado middle school, high school, and college undergraduate students in 14 national and international mathematics competitions and has conducted an annual awards program to honor outstanding students and their teachers and coaches. We firmly believe that participating voluntarily in such contests can complement classroom and online instruction in valuable ways.
Nine of the 11 national competitions for middle school and high school students are sponsored by the American Mathematics Competitions (AMC)—a program of the Mathematical Association of America (MAA) and 15 other professional organizations. The sequence of AMC- sponsored exams culminates in selecting a team of six high school students to represent the United States at the International Mathematics Olympiad (IMO) each year.
CMA is an all-volunteer, 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization, founded by leaders from five organizations: American Mathematics Competitions –MAA, Rocky Mountain Section – MAA, Colorado Council of Teachers of Mathematics, Colorado MATHCOUNTS, and the Colorado Department of Education. Such leadership continues through Steering Committee membership and advising.
