Colorado Grain Chain

A nonprofit organization

You know that feeling when food tastes like it has a story?

Maybe it's sourdough made with whole grain White Sonora wheat or an IPA brewed with Colorado barley. That's the taste of connection–and it's what we're building together.

Who We Are

The Colorado Grain Chain is a statewide network of over 90 farms and grain businesses–farmers, millers, maltsters, bakers, brewers, distillers, and chefs–all working to strengthen Colorado's local grain economy. We're the only organization in Colorado exclusively dedicated to this work.

What We Do

We connect the dots. Through microgrants, education & networking events, and our Grain Finder tool, we help grain businesses find each other, collaborate, and grow. A farmer meets a miller. A baker sources heritage flour. A distillery finds local rye. These connections are how Colorado grains get from field to table.

This year alone, we supported six grain business collaborations and doubled the listings on our Grain Finder. When local grain infrastructure grows stronger, everyone benefits–farmers earn fair prices, businesses access quality ingredients, and you get incredible flavor that protects agricultural land and family farms.

Why This Matters

Supporting local grains means supporting family farms practicing regenerative and diversified agriculture, keeping your food dollars in Colorado, and building climate resilience through heritage and climate-adapted grain varieties. It's a dietary staple we can actually grow here.

Your Role

When you give, you're protecting agricultural lands and supporting a future where we're connected to that which nourishes us. Grains are a dietary staple we simply can't take for granted. Whether it's heritage Ryman Rye protecting topsoil in the San Luis Valley, kernza with roots ten feet deep, sequestering carbon and building soil health–each grain makes an impact. This is the agriculture you believe in–and your gift makes it possible.

Your gift supports:

  • Microgrants that spark business collaborations

  • Events where farmers and buyers connect

  • Our Grain Finder tool connecting producers with customers

Whether you give $25 or $250, you're strengthening the grain economy that feeds our communities.

Will you invest in a resilient and thriving grain future?
