Our Story
It started in the water with our toddlers, learning survival skills. Soon we were watching from the deck, and when they heard the beep and the cheering from Saturday-morning neighborhood swim meets and asked to race, we said yes, and never really looked back.
Like so many families, we got pulled into early mornings, volunteering, timing, coaching, cheering, and sometimes hugging a few tears away, all while watching our kids grow stronger, more independent, and more confident. That little pool taught us what the water can do: not just build athletes, but build character and community.
That's why we founded Colorado Aquatics Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit launched in 2023, so more families could have a place to learn, compete, and belong the way ours did. Today that mission drives our work to bring a new aquatic center to our community: a place where kids learn, athletes push their limits, and families find a place to call home.

To develop an aquatic facility that can house our mission of water safety advocacy, drowning prevention, lifeguard training, and certification, and the advancement of aquatic sports access across South Metro Denver.
Colorado Aquatics Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 2023 to expand water safety education, drowning prevention, swim instruction, and competitive aquatic sports access across South Metro Denver.
For three years, we did our homework: meeting with cities, counties, recreation districts, developers, clubs, and aquatic operators, and visiting centers across the country to learn firsthand what makes great facilities work. That groundwork led us to the right partner: Douglas County.
When a development partner stepped back from the aquatics component of the Zebulon Regional Sports Complex, Douglas County named Colorado Aquatics Foundation its development partner for the project in 2026, a decision grounded in our three-year track record and our relationship with the county.
Today we're leading the fundraising, planning, and community partnership work to build Douglas County's first 50-meter competition pool, guided by a board and advisory committee with deep experience in aquatic sport administration.
