Cobalt believes nothing should stand between you and your health decisions.

But the reality is, assaults on reproductive healthcare and autonomy are intensifying across the nation. And that is on top of the barriers to reproductive healthcare that so many already face on a daily basis.
Your reproductive autonomy should not be dependent on your job, where you live, your financial situation, or, frankly, someone else's political agenda. That's why we are committed to securing policies, structures, and attitudes that support fundamental reproductive healthcare and abortion access.
It's time that every Coloradan is able to make the health decisions that are right for them, free from stigma, systemic barriers, and politics.

Roe v. Wade was always the floor, never the ceiling. Our reproductive rights are still at stake. Cobalt has ambitious plans for the upcoming year including a ballot measure that would expand abortion access for more Coloradoans, including public employees, Medicaid recipients, EMTs, firefighters, and teachers, and enshrining the right to abortion access in our state constitution. Your early support is critical in this effort.

Not only do we push for policies that expand and protect abortion access in Colorado, we also have an Abortion Fund and Practical Support Fund that help individuals who need financial assistance obtaining an abortion and/or the additional costs it takes to travel to receive the care they need. Our Abortion Fund has assisted 1942 clients with abortion costs so far in 2023 alone, and our Practical Support Fund has assisted 1075 clients so far in 2023 with travel support and other practical support costs. In 2022, the Cobalt Abortion Fund financially assisted over 12% of all abortion procedures performed in Colorado. The needs are high after the Dobbs decision and continue to increase as more states restrict abortion access. 100% of the money raised for these funds goes directly to clients requesting assistance. We couldn't do this important work without donors like you!

Testimonials from those assisted by the Cobalt Foundation:

"I have always been pro-choice. Especially after being put in the situation myself." This patient had to travel across multiple states to receive abortion care.

"I wasn't sure on abortion for me until I found out I was pregnant. However, I've always been pro-choice. This was my decision and I am so glad I was able to make it for myself."

"At first I was scared...my anxiety and fear made it hard but thanks to the staff and doctors I knew I was in good hands."

"It was the light at the end of a tunnel in a real bad dream...Safe access to this kind of healthcare makes me proud to be an American."

"Women's bodies should not be controlled by the government. They don't understand that until they personally go through this, no one can even speak on the subject."

Mission

Our purpose: Cobalt envisions a world where your health decisions are free from stigma, politics and systemic barriers. Our mission: We actualize policies, structures and attitudes that secure unassailable reproductive autonomy and abortion access.

Background Statement

In order to remove all barriers to reproductive healthcare, we have to know what those barriers are. We believe that our stakeholders and communities at the grassroots level know what they need best, so it's important for us to be deeply rooted in our community.

Colorado was the first state to legalize abortion in 1967, and since then, our state has served as a model for reproductive healthcare policies and programs. This new direction will enable us to continue creating the local impact we really want.

Cobalt is focusing all of our energies here in Colorado and solidifying our reach with our state's providers, patients, and advocates.

Because of the attacks we are seeing from our opposition, it is important to be able to choose the tactic or messaging that is most appropriate in every situation and be nimble and flexible in how we spend our energy.
