Our Vision

To produce lifelong athletes who are committed to personal growth, focus on achieving individual goals in or out of competition through structured training, and who respect their community and their peers.

The guiding principles within our program help us collaborate with local and regional partners to ensure that there are program options for all athletes.

We strive to help each athlete be in the program that will lead to the most success, while preparing athletes to move into more intense competitive environments and help guide them to these opportunities when they are ready.

We continuously strive to have quality coaches who provide developmentally appropriate training and skill development by being process rather than be results focused.

CCMS's goal is to be accessible to all students who wish to be involved with our programs.

We will always promote and value diversity, compassion, commitment, and character.

Mission

It is the mission of Cloud City Mountain Sports to provide youth, from Lake and Chaffee counties, the opportunity to excel as people and athletes through education and outdoor sports. We foster a love of outdoor recreation and educate youth about the value of sport and competition.

Our vision is to produce lifelong athletes who are committed to personal growth, focus on achieving individual goals in or out of competition through structured training, and who respect their community and their peers.

Background Statement

Cloud City Ski Club was founded in 1989. It originally housed Alpine and Nordic programs for the Leadville community. Jeff Maddex was a founding director and worked with a variety of community members to bring the ski team to life. Don Quinn was the guiding force for the nordic programs, coaching numerous All-Americans and Colorado State Champions throughout his storied career. Over the years the Nordic element broke away and Cloud City focused on Alpine racing. In 2019 these programs were brought back together to help parents and the community have one ski program to support and to help young athletes navigate both Nordic and Alpine skiing. In 2020 Cloud City Mountain Sports was formed and continues the mission of Cloud City Ski Club. In recent years, we have expanded to include mountain biking and snowboarding.
