The possibility of becoming friends with people of different backgrounds and life experiences is an essential part of CISV peace education. Our experiential based learning activities expand our view of the world, increase our self-awareness and allow us to be more aware of the needs of others.

Testimonials

"I was struck by how much we learned…Despite language barriers and cultural differences, we somehow managed to coexist for two weeks in very close quarters, while getting a tremendous amount of work done. It was a centering experience. When you are completely taken out of your element, you learn a lot about yourself. You can check your baggage at the door, and you can coexist with people and work toward a positive goal."

Mission

CISV educates and inspires action for a more just and peaceful world.

Background Statement

Following the devastation of WWII and conceived by Dr. Doris Allen in 1946, CISV was developed to bring together children from all over the globe to learn to respect different and common values. CISV Rocky Mountain Denver was founded in 1999 shortly after the tragic Columbine High School massacre by three women who saw the great opportunity to bring peace to our region, especially for our children.
