Circle of Care is a national best practice asset-based community development project devoted to uniting generations to end social isolation through barrier-free access to Performing Arts. Circle is an award-winning social innovation launched in Boulder, Colorado, in 2004. Our intervention is dedicated to ending senior isolation and decline through a multi-generational civic engagement process, connecting volunteers who are trained care companions, whom we call Performance Companions, with vulnerable elders to build a caring, accessible community for people as they age. We are a nonprofit focused on successful Aging in Community while Aging in Place. We work to design and implement solutions to multiple issues seniors can face, including transportation challenges, physical, cognitive, social/civic issues, and financial limitations, often impacting older adults. We believe in the power of the arts to improve the quality of life for people regardless of age, income, or financial status, in the communities where they live throughout a lifetime.

Circle of Care has provided over 300,000 volunteer door-to-door assisted rides and escorts to over 2.500 performing arts events with a 100% safety record. Our primary activities focus on our successful volunteer para-transportation program connected to quality of life resources provided at no cost to vulnerable older adults and the volunteer drivers that assist them, thanks to our many partnerships with arts and cultural organizations that donate tickets.

Circle of Care is a multifaceted program of services and safety nets that leverages partnerships across sectors and the arts, culture, educational and community amenities, to increase older persons' engagement, access, mobility, inclusion, and well-being regardless of age, income, or ability.

Circle of Care is dedicated to building an inclusive, engaged community through arts and cultural access.
