Chill envisions a world where any young person can belong and thrive in the outdoor community and beyond.
Chill's mission is to get young people inspired by boardsports, and to make the outdoor community a place where everyone belongs. Founded by Jake and Donna Carpenter of Burton Snowboards, we've reached more than 35,000 participants across 20 locations in 9 countries since 1995. Today, 47% of participants identify as women or girls, 51% as men or boys, 2% as non-binary or self-described, and over 70% of Chill participants identify as BIPOC (Black, Indigenous and People of Color) across North America.
Our programs blend the thrill of snowboarding, skateboarding, surfing, and paddleboarding with a core values curriculum that sparks personal growth, builds community and creates real connections to the outdoors. We cover all costs and partner closely with schools, social service agencies, and boardsport partners. The only thing participants have to think about is showing up and having fun!
