The campaign for 100,000 smiling faces!
Enriching childhood through play, social connections, and fun because childhood matters!
The Children’s Museum of Northern Colorado project was launched in 2015. The effort began as a belief among a group of community members that Northern Colorado was ready to sustain its own children’s museum. That initial concept grew into a vision for a regionally-serving children’s museum.
In late 2023, a building was secured to become CMNC’s home. Our leadership is hard at work to open the Children’s Museum of Northern Colorado.
Today, CMNC is led by a 12 member board of directors from across Northern Colorado and supported by members of the business and philanthropic communities. Nearly all of the project’s original founders are still involved.
Testimonials
"As a northern Colorado resident for the past 35 years, the mother of two sons and grandmother of two grandsons, I cannot tell you how we have longed for a resource such as the Children's Museum of Northern Colorado. So many children and families in our communities cannot or choose not to make the trek to other cities where such resources are available for children to learn and grow. As one of the fastest areas growing in Colorado, we need valuable and exciting learning opportunities for our children and families and the Children's Museum of Northern Colorado will be just that. The cooperative nature of the planning for this museum also is a wonderful model for how the northern Colorado communities can and do collaborate to bring needed and desired resources to our area."
-Dr. Janet Alcorn, Director of the Tointon Institute for Educational Change
"It was exciting for me and a real honor to be part of the exhibit design planning for the Children's Museum of Northern Colorado. Families are going to love bonding and learning through play when they visit. The museum will make a significant impact on the growth and education of Northern Colorado's children."
