"This has been the perfect start for our son's education. A warm loving environment that is led by well educated people that have a deep understanding and compassion for what they do. We switched to Children's House after trying a Boulder Waldorf preschool because we thought there was a lack of adult supervision and guidance. We couldn't be happier here - teachers freely talk about what has happened during the day and there are numerous ways in which they communicate with the parents. We all feel included and part of the school community. The "storybook journey's" are amazing and completely transform the classroom and integrate into their art projects and creative play. Which fosters a beautiful exploration and appreciation of books from an early age. As a parent, I love books - and couldn't understand the lack of literature in the Waldorf methodology - Children's House embraces this love. There is no staff turn over in this school and that made starting our second year even more comforting. The homemade snacks that are provided are wonderful and I love that they have the kids help cook. There are so many good things to say. I hope other families find the joy that we have found!"

"Children's House Preschool is an exceptional school! I had two very different children attend, and the teachers were able to differentiate the learning to fit both personalities and needs. The multicultural student population allows learning about many different cultures and languages. The curriculum, The Storybook Journey, affords each student the ability to explore and learn so many things: language skills, math concepts, social awareness and interaction, gross and fine motor skills-the list could go on and on. The teachers and staff treat the children with such respect and encouragement that they are in turn respectful and encouraging to their peers and adults. Truly magical!"

"This school is the most wonderful place we could find in Boulder! We just came from Germany (and maybe you might know but Germans are very picky and so we were looking for the perfect preschool. After a short and shocking adventure at public school we have found this place through neighbors. The enrollment was absolutely fast and hassle-free in contrary to what we went through at Creekside public school. The teachers are marvelous and our son loves every single one of them. The kids and the team welcomed our son so warmly that he had no other chance than to love this place. Also for us parents especially Elaine and Michael were a great help to integrate to this new wonderful world. A big thank you to the Children's House!"

Vision: Children's House believes all children - of every race, ability, native language, culture and socio-economic status - have the right to flourish in an inclusive preschool program.

Mission Statement: Children's House provides a culturally sensitive, enriching early childhood environment with the activities, equipment and leadership to prepare children - socially, emotionally, intellectually and physically - for success in school and in the community.

Background Statement

Children's House Preschool (CHP) was founded by a church in 1970 to promote religious education, but the school became secular within a year. In 1994, CHP began to offer First Chance Scholarships for special needs children whose parents were burdened with high medical costs and therapies. The program then expanded to include assistance for illness, disaster, divorce, non-native English speakers, and more. This inclusion of children from a variety of backgrounds continues today and provides a diverse culture within the school to the benefit of all enrolled.

CHP was selected as a community site for the Colorado Preschool Program (CPP) in 1989; and as a training site for CU Speech Pathology students. In 1999 the school separated from the church, and became a non-profit in its own right in 2001. In 2003 it moved to its current location in the Iris Hollow neighborhood; the building was purchased in 2005, and the mortgage paid off in April 2008. Today CHP continues to operate true to our mission that all children should have access to a quality, affordable, inclusive preschool program.

Children's House is Nationally Accredited through the National Association of Education for the Young Child (NAEYC) which is the gold standard for quality in preschools.
