Cherry Creek Theatre contributes to the vibrancy of the arts & culture scene and drives economic activity in metro Denver by providing downtown quality with genuine neighborhood hospitality.

We serve as an artistic home to emerging and established artists and provide opportunities for younger artists to get their feet wet working alongside Broadway-credited professionals.

CCT’s new-play initiative is taking off in big ways — 2023 marked our first-ever world premiere, The Headliners by Jeffrey Neuman, a finalist for the 2021 Eugene O’Neill playwriting award. Critics and audiences alike praised Neuman's Henry Award-nominated new play. In 2024, we will stage the world premiere of The Heartbeat of the Sun by Melissa Lucero McCarl.

We’re proud that 14 of our productions have been recognized by the Colorado Theatre Guild, earning CCT 27 Henry Award nominations and two wins. This season, all three eligible productions garnered CCT artists a record-breaking TEN Henry Award Nominations for acting, directing, playwriting, and design.

Mission

CCT seeks to enhance and enrich the vitality of the Cherry Creek neighborhood through theater and the arts by producing a broad range of theatrical and artistic productions of the highest quality that will be entertaining, educational, and diverse.

Background Statement

In early 2010, an initial 15 member Study Group of interested Cherry Creek North, Historic Country Club, Cherry Creek East, business representatives, City Council, and local theater leaders convened to discuss the development of live theater as a way to bring added life and vitality to the Cherry Creek area.

In order to determine community interest and receive ideas, comments, and feedback on the concept, a live theater survey was conducted among residents and businesses in the greater Cherry Creek area. 243 individuals participated in the survey. The results of the survey guided the creation of the theatre.
