Chaffee County Hospitality Inc. is located in Salida, CO. We provide emergency nighttime winter shelter for men and women, allowing a warm and safe place to sleep during our coldest months of November through April. This is our fifth season operating the shelters, which are the only shelters in Chaffee County. A hot meal is served each night, donated by members of our community. We help support the men and women staying at our shelters by connecting them to services within our city, county and state that are aimed at ending homelessness. We pay for motel rooms to house families, individuals with pets, people recovering after a hospital stay and people who identify as trans or nonbinary who are experiencing homelessness. We are low-barrier shelters, accepting people as they are.

Providing hospitality to our neighbors experiencing homelessness and walking alongside people as they exit homelessness.

Background Statement

Chaffee County Hospitality became a 501(c)(3) organization in August of 2020, but started providing an emergency winter shelter in 2018. For the first two winter seasons we only had a men's shelter. In 2020 we housed women in a motel room, then in 2021 we were able to have both a men and a women's shelter. Since 2020 we have been housing any adults with children in local motels.
