For 80 years, Catholic Charities of Southern Colorado has walked alongside individuals and families, helping them build stronger, healthier, and more hopeful lives. Through programs that stabilize, strengthen, and create pathways to opportunity, we empower our neighbors to reach their fullest potential.
This year, we proudly introduce our 2025–2026 theme and logo: Rooted in Service, Growing in Hope.
Rooted in Service reflects the deep foundation that grounds our mission. From supporting families through crisis, to welcoming immigrants, to assisting those experiencing homelessness or poverty, our work is built on compassion, dignity, and a commitment that has stood the test of time. Our roots run deep because of those who came before us—and because of the community that stands with us today.
Growing in Hope represents the promise of renewal and the future we build together. Hope is not just an idea—it is something we witness every day: keys placed into the hands of someone newly housed, a child’s first day at school, a parent finding stability, or a newcomer finding safety and belonging. Hope grows in the people we serve, and it grows in us as we continue to evolve and strengthen our impact.
Your generosity ensures that we can remain firmly rooted in service while helping hope flourish in every life we touch. Together, we honor our legacy, strengthen our community, and continue building a future filled with dignity, opportunity, and love.
Success Stories
Parents as Teachers Program - CCSoco’s parent educator, Rose, works with a family of first-time parents who share how the Parents as Teachers (PAT) program has supported their child’s development. They say the program helps keep their little one on track with developmental milestones, and as new parents, they’re learning right alongside him. They’ve even learned how to make their own baby food.
The family shared that the program gives them simple, meaningful ideas for interacting with their baby and supporting his learning. Mom said, “The little stuff matters just as much. Even just telling your little one what we did today is a story—it helps him learn and understand how we live.”
They love their home visits with Rose, especially the convenience and comfort of having a parent educator come into their home to support their child’s growth in a familiar environment. They would absolutely recommend the PAT program to other families.
Rose loves what she does and finds joy in watching parents grow in confidence and connection with their children.

Family Development Program - This client enrolled in SOS—Supportive Ongoing Services in October 2021. At the time, she was a first-time mother struggling with severe postpartum depression, along with previously diagnosed major depressive and anxiety disorders. She had avoided medication during pregnancy out of concern for her baby, which left her mental health untreated and significantly impacted her ability to care for herself and her child.
Her declining mental health strained family relationships, leaving her without support. Shortly after giving birth, she became homeless and lived in her car while her baby stayed with his father’s family due to safety concerns. These challenges led to her referral to our program.
Being separated from her child motivated her to seek help. After starting the correct medication, she became more stable and was able to find supportive employment. With steady income, she began saving for housing. In three months, and with the help of SOS flex funds, she secured housing for herself and her child.
Now, years later, she has made remarkable progress. She has the right diagnosis, effective treatment, restored family relationships, and her child is back in her care. She is rebuilding her relationship with the baby’s father and is planning to return to school to pursue a nursing certificate.
The mission of Catholic Charities of Southern Colorado, an organization with a long tradition of strengthening families and individuals, is to empower people to live whole and healthy lives to reach their fullest potential by providing them with pathways to build skills, knowledge, and opportunities.
On April 6, 1944, Catholic Social Services (CSS) was established with a focus on placing children for adoption. The agency also had some limited family counseling services. Following the end of World War II, assistance to returning veterans became a priority.
As the decades progressed, CSS added more programs, including marriage and personal counseling, assistance for unmarried parents, and money management services.
In 2000, the agency changed its name to Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Pueblo, Inc. (CCDP) to reflect that the organization was part of the larger Catholic Charities USA network of independent Catholic social service organizations.
Over the last twenty years, the agency has continued to grow and develop new programs to best meet the needs of the community.
In 2021, Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Pueblo underwent a name and logo change to better represent the community of people that the agency serves - southern Colorado. As Catholic Charities of Southern Colorado we continue to support individuals and families in the community.
For over 80 years we have been responding to the ever-changing needs of the communities we serve. Your generous gift enables us to continue to be responsive and innovative in our programming and to provide the highest quality of assistance and support that we can.
