Most shelters give Wolfdogs hours to live. Your gift buys them a lifetime.
In Colorado, countless Huskies are surrendered every month. For Wolfdogs, the reality is even more brutal: in most shelters, they are euthanized immediately — not for aggression, but for lack of a legal, safe place to go.
Without intervention, these dogs are gone in days. Sometimes hours.
Cavalli’s Husky & Wolfdog Rescue exists to stop that clock. But we can’t do it without you.
Your donation doesn’t just help — it prevents a life from being lost. It stops another Husky from facing repeated rehoming until the shelter runs out of options. It keeps a Wolfdog from being destroyed simply because there was nowhere equipped to take them in.
When you give, you provide:
Safe, secure enclosures that mean the difference between life and death.
Emergency veterinary care before it’s too late.
Foster homes that keep animals out of overcrowded shelters.
Education that ends cycles of fear and surrender.
Every minute that passes without support is another minute closer to losing them. Your gift today is their chance to see tomorrow.
Our mission is to protect, advocate for, and provide safe, loving second-chance homes to Huskies and Wolfdogs through a foster-based model that prioritizes individualized care, enrichment, and responsible placement.
We are a breed-specific rescue committed to preparing each animal—and their people—for lifelong success through personalized support, rigorous vetting, and community education, with a strong emphasis on proper wolfdog understanding, ownership, and advocacy.
We address these goals on a multitude of levels:
• Cavalli’s Rescue is a PACFA-licensed, 501(c)(3) nonprofit foster-based rescue for Huskies and Wolfdogs. We are dedicated to rescue, rehabilitation, and responsible rehoming — never breeding or selling. Our priority is to give every animal the time, care, and stability they need to truly heal before entering a forever home.
• We provide a safe and stable foster environment for each animal in our care. All fosters meet strict safety and containment standards appropriate for high-energy, high-intelligence breeds. Dogs live in secure home environments with access to outdoor space, enrichment, and social interaction. No animal is ever kept in a long-term kennel or on a chain.
• We commit to individualized rehabilitation and socialization. Every Husky and Wolfdog is assessed as an individual with unique needs, personality, and background. Our foster network provides behavioral training, confidence building, and positive human interaction — at the dog’s pace — to prepare them for safe, successful adoption.
• We provide comprehensive public education on Huskies and Wolfdogs. Through online outreach, community events, and one-on-one adopter support, we teach responsible ownership, breed-specific needs, and the realities of caring for these complex animals. By reducing fear and misunderstanding, we prevent future surrenders.
• We maintain lifelong commitment to every animal we place. Adoptions are carefully matched, and we remain a safety net for every dog we rehome. If an adoption doesn’t work out, the dog always comes back to us — never to a shelter.
• We build partnerships to expand impact. Cavalli’s works with shelters, veterinarians, trainers, and other rescues across Colorado and beyond to save dogs at risk of euthanasia and to ensure they receive the highest level of care on their journey to a forever home.
Cavalli’s Husky & Wolfdog Rescue was founded in 2024 out of an urgent need for ethical, breed-specific rescue options for some of the most misunderstood canines in Colorado. While Huskies are often surrendered due to their high energy and unique needs, Wolfdogs face an even harsher reality: in many shelters, they are euthanized immediately due to legal restrictions, public stigma, and a lack of qualified placement options.
Our founder, Leah Collingwood, spent over two decades living with northern breeds and years working in animal rescue across the U.S., fostering, transporting, and supporting high-needs dogs. After moving to Colorado and seeing firsthand the absence of a legitimate, licensed wolfdog rescue in the state, Leah committed to building one from the ground up — one grounded in safety, sustainability, and compassion.
Cavalli’s is the first PACFA-licensed, 501(c)(3) nonprofit in Colorado dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and responsible rehoming of both Huskies and Wolfdogs through a foster-based model. We focus on building secure, breed-appropriate containment, providing individualized medical and behavioral care, and educating the public about these incredible animals.
Our vision is simple but ambitious: to save lives, change perceptions, and ensure that every Husky or Wolfdog in our care has the opportunity to live safely, thrive, and find a truly forever home. While our work has just begun, our commitment is unwavering — and with the support of our community, we can turn “no safe place” into a network of second chances across Colorado.
