Testimonials

"Getting to go places with the Senior Center has stretched me, gotten me out of my comfort zone by trying new things, kept me active, been good for my brain, and helped me to make friends. I am so grateful." - a member and scholarship recipient

"My daughter and I moved to Colorado after my husband's death to be near to my son. It was through the Senior Center that we found a community. My son laughs that his mother and sister have been to more places in Colorado than he has in the 30 years he has lived here. We plan our week around the Senior Center. The people there have become our extended family and friends." - Sandy, a member

"Words cannot express how much the Castle Rock Senior Center has mean't to me. I came to Castle Rock only having my daughter and her husband and was prepared to be lonely. My daughter brought me to sign up at the Senior Center the very day I moved in. How friendly everyone was! They made me feel at home, being away from my lifetime home. I have enjoyed every minute spent at the Center and after a year and a half have made great friends and am reluctant to leave. The staff has done everything possible to make my days pleasant, exciting and meaningful. God bless you!" - Ruth

"The Meals on Wheels have been such a god-send for my dear folks. We only get back there 4 times a year and are super grateful to know they have something nutritious to eat almost every day. My Dad is nearly blind and my mom's right arm is pretty much useless, so thank you thank you." - Joni and Lonnie

"Our senior population is growing and we need the Castle Rock Senior Center now more than ever...It is a one-stop shop for information related to aging and it's a one-of-a-kind resource for members of our community who need this type of support. We thank all involved for the hard work to make and keep the Castle Rock Senior Center a much-needed resource for our community." - Paul Donahue, Former Mayor, Town of Castle Rock

"I get great satisfaction by helping others, and I love learning the stories of their lives when the riders share them. I get to meet so many interesting and fascinating seniors by giving of my time." - Charlie, a volunteer driver

Background Statement

The Castle Rock Senior Activity Center celebrates 54 years of serving area seniors in 2025. From it's humble beginnings as a social club in 1971, it has evolved into a vibrant organization of 1300 members as services continue to increase reaching this very diverse population (members live in their own homes or with family members). The Center provides services and programming to help members "age in place" and live independent and fulfilled lives.

CRSAC is a 501(C)3 non-profit organization and is responsible for obtaining all funding to operate the nearly $970,000 budget. Funding is obtained from many sources, including a partnership with the Town of Castle Rock, including a service agreement to provide services to local seniors along with financial support for programming.

Grants through Douglas County, DRCOG and a variety of private foundations and organizations provide funding for transportation services, health and wellness services, scholarship programs and more. Individual and corporation donations are always accepted, either restricted to specific needs or non-restricted and applied where needed. Membership dues are collected, but they are kept to a minimum due to the fixed income of the senior population. A number of ongoing fundraising events take place annually and provide the balance of the operating revenue such as our upcoming Golf Tournament and Craft Show.

CRSAC is governed by a Board of Directors and has a full-time staff of 7 with 1 part-time staff person. Our 500+ team of volunteers accomplish a great deal alongside us providing over 30,000 hours in 2024.

With a fleet of vehicles and a team of dedicated volunteers, more than 1000 rides are provided each month to grocery stores and doctor appointments. More than 150 activities are planned monthly, with more added as resources allow. Programming is diverse, ranging from sports leagues and card games to special interest groups and theater trips. Members may gather for meals or for learning something new and always leave with memories of laughter shared with friends. Services include wellness programs like foot clinics, massages and disease prevention classes.

We are a Volunteer of America meal site and provide hot lunches on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. In addition. we deliver the Meals on Wheels Frozen Meal Program to home bound seniors of Douglas County.

In summary, the Castle Rock Senior Activity Center provides for the most basic fundamental needs of our older adult population along with providing fantastic opportunities for socialization and connection to their home community.
