Cap for Kids is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that seeks to bring hope and cheer to children undergoing cancer treatment, and their families. We do this by providing financial and emotional support to the immediate families of the afflicted children as well as by bringing them face to face with their favorite comic and pop culture heroes via in-character hospital or home visits. We are able to do this through the kindness, generosity, and support of the pop culture community.
At Cap for Kids, our mission is simple; make life a little bit easier for kids and families undergoing treatment for Pediatric Cancer. We do this by stepping in to pick up the bills. We pay the day-to-day living expenses that often get overlooked or pushed aside. Bills like utilities, insurance, groceries, gas, cell phone bills, clothes for growing kids, and the list goes on. We have worked with car dealerships to secure reliable transportation
for families for little to no cost, making it possible for them to get their children to treatment without exposing them to potential infections on public
transportation.
Why we do what we do: When a child is diagnosed with cancer, it takes over the lives of the families. In their desperate fight for their child's life, the families often have to drop everything to focus on their child. This often means that parents have to take time off of work, often unpaid, which can impact their ability to keep a roof over their heads, the electricity on and food in the refrigerator. This in turn can cause stress for the child which may also hinder recovery. When Cap for Kids steps in to pick up the bills, the family can focus on the only thing that matters, their child beating cancer.
