Music education can change a life. Access to it shouldn’t depend on where you come from or where you live.
Camp Coletrain Inc. is a Colorado 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to making high-quality music education more accessible in rural communities.
Based in Buena Vista, Colorado, we bring students ages 3 and up together with professional musicians and educators through our annual Camp Coletrain, scholarships, festival pop-ups, workshops, performances, and community music programs.
What began as a summer music camp has grown into a community built around a simple belief: everyone deserves the opportunity to learn, create, perform, and experience the connection that happens when people make music together.
Your support helps us:
As we head into our 10th annual Camp Coletrain in 2027, your donation helps us reach more students, create more opportunities, and keep music education accessible for the next generation.
Help us keep the music playing.
Camp Coletrain Inc. expands access to high-quality music education in rural communities through scholarships, camps, workshops, and community programming that inspire people of all ages to learn, create, perform, and connect through music.
Camp Coletrain Inc. grew out of a simple belief: access to exceptional music education shouldn't depend on where you live or what resources are available in your community.
Founded in Colorado's Arkansas Valley, Camp Coletrain began as a grassroots summer music camp created by professional musician and educator Coleman Smith. What started as a local opportunity for young musicians has grown into an annual multi-generational program serving children, teens and adults through immersive instruction, workshops, ensembles and performance opportunities led by professional musicians and educators.
Now approaching its 10th year, Camp Coletrain Inc. is expanding beyond its flagship summer camp to bring accessible music education to more rural communities through scholarships, early childhood programming, pop-up music camps, community partnerships and new programs designed to reach students who face geographic or financial barriers to music education.
Our work is rooted in the belief that music builds confidence, creativity and connection - and that meaningful music education should be accessible to everyone.
