Colorado Partners of the Americas

The Colorado Chapter of Partners of the Americas (COPoA) is a nonpartisan 501(c)(3) international development nonprofit based in Denver and Greeley, Colorado. Founded in 1964 and inspired by President John F. Kennedy's Alliance for Progress, COPoA made history as the first U.S.-Brazil partnership through its connection with the former Minas Gerais Chapter. Today, COPoA fosters educational and cultural exchange across the Americas through programs spanning the environment, dance, music, English teaching, and youth development, and through collaborations with chapters and affiliates in Argentina, Colombia, Bolivia, Brazil, Ecuador, Guatemala, Honduras, Peru, and the U.S. Since adopting a hybrid model in 2017, the chapter has welcomed members worldwide and works to strengthen civic engagement, education, language acquisition, leadership, and social entrepreneurship throughout the hemisphere.

Mission

To connect the heart of the Rockies to the pulse of the Americas by reaching across cultures. Through every project, exchange, and friendship, we are crafting a network of understanding and cooperation that spans continents, crosses cultures, and opens hearts. By creating partnerships, Colorado meets the vibrant soul of the Americas in ways that transform lives, strengthen communities, and turn borders into bridges.

Background Statement

To forge lasting connections between Colorado and partner regions in the Americas, creating transformative exchanges that enrich lives and strengthen communities through cultural understanding, shared knowledge, and sustainable development.
