Testimonials

"Well I love the YAC, it always feels like a safe place and it's a welcoming environment. Everyone there is super sweet and really great at making people feel comfortable. When I had a job with them at the Smoothie Bar, I felt like I belonged and I learned SO many things about being a part of a job. I also learned about food handling, cleaning, money management, etc. The YAC is an overall great opportunity for young people and I loved being there. You guys really helped me learn about life stuff and put it in a way that I could understand it and still have fun." (youth participant)

1st Place on 2nd Street has "Definitely impacted my life in a positive way. It's given me a safe place to stay off the streets and the people that work for CASA have always been able to help if I needed it. They have been respectful about my past and the things I've been through and they've helped me get where I needed to be to live in the world and helped me get on my feet." (Tenant)

the Youth Access Center at CASA has "Awesomely impacted my life by making new friends and having a safe space to be in where there's no judgement."

Mission

Helping to break the cycle of child abuse and neglect through prevention, advocacy and interaction.

Background Statement

In March 2000, CASA of the Seventh Judicial District Inc. (CASA7JD) was founded by a group of professionals and community members who wanted to make a difference in the lives of abused and neglected children. In the years since CASA7JD has continued to expand our commitment to the children and families of the 7th Judicial District. We continue to provide Court Appointed Special Advocates for those children involved in the courts due to abuse and/or neglect. We also provide approximately 7,000 hours of Supervised Visitation for non-custodial parents and children in the foster care system. In 2014 we added Youth Services for those young people likely to emancipator form foster care. Youth Services has since grown to include a walk-in-center for community youth that provides a safe environment for peer-to-peer support groups, access to mental health services, pre-employment training, assistance with educational and life goals, and Supportive Housing for those at risk for homelessness.
