Mission

The mission of the Buena Vista Pregnancy Center (BVPC) is to serve Chaffee, Lake, and Park counties. We demonstrate the grace and love of Jesus Christ by meeting the emotional, physical, and spiritual needs of our clients. We promote whole-person health education for youth through our relationship curriculum as well as educating the local communities on the importance of human life.

Background Statement

The Buena Vista Pregnancy Center is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that has been serving Chaffee, Lake, and Park Counties since 1994. We offer critical medical services for planned and unplanned pregnancies including STI testing, pregnancy testing, and ultrasounds. Our medical team includes two registered nurses trained in sonography and an OBGYN Physician who is our Medical Director.

The BVPC staff and volunteers strive to meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of clients with our medical services as well as our educational resources. We offer more than 200 individual classes through the Bright Course curriculum covering the topics of pregnancy, birth, baby, toddler, special circumstances, fatherhood, and many more. We also facilitate 8-week series of group parenting classes diving into how to parent well with Circle of Security and Conscious Discipline curriculum.

Our youth outreach programs are designed to reach teens in advance of making big life decisions that may contain deep regret. Our 8-day healthy relationship classes called Real Essentials allow us to speak with all Freshman in the BV and South Park High Schools each year. Lessons include red flag warning, breakup skills, steps of intimacy, communication danger signs, and many more. Students become familiar with our staff and learn that we are a safe, nonjudgmental place to come if in the future they are in need of our services.

Along with our Real Essentials program, we annually offer full day middle school girls and boys retreats centered around their identity in Christ and His love for them. When you know who you are and how well you are loved, you make healthier life decisions.

These medical and educational programs are all free of charge to our community. Our educational programs allow families to earn points as they complete classes. These points can be spent on material resources for pregnant moms, all the baby items you could imagine needing, and financial assistance with grocery and gas cards.

We exist to come alongside women who may be experiencing an unplanned pregnancy. We offer facts about her three options and give her space outside of external influencers to decide what is best for her. The BVPC is also here to support and help strengthen families and single moms through the challenging years of pregnancy and parenting.
