Therapy incorporating advanced technology is critical for the health of individuals with mobility impairment. Advanced robotic technology is costly, most individuals don't have the financial resources to enhance recovery, reduce secondary complications, regain mobility and walk, or even move, again as a result.

With your donation during Colorado Gives Day, Bridging Bionics Foundation can offer its athletes with neurological challenges the opportunity to walk, run, move, and exercise. These basic activities strengthen each person's body, mind, and spirit resulting in a more fulfilling life. Every dollar you give to our year-end campaign will directly benefit our athletes.

Thank you for your consideration and support!

Testimonials

"I was paralyzed 22 years ago in August and ever since I started going to Bridging Bionics, I have gained back feeling and muscle control that I didn’t even know was possible. So, when my sister Emily was recently diagnosed with MS, I knew I wanted her to join BBF. If I could make gains 22 years after my accident, then I knew that my sister has even more potential for healing. I can never thank BBF enough for providing such outstanding and affordable care that has the power to transform the lives of myself and the people I love."

~ Amanda Seubert, Spinal Cord Injury

"My name is Danielle and I have been a Bridging Bionics athlete since the start! I was diagnosed with cerebral palsy at birth and it has given me challenges with walking and talking because of increased tone. At Bridging Bionics, technologies like the Galileo platform and Vibe help to reduce my tone making walking easier. In therapy, we have been working really hard on my balance and having controlled movements while relaxing my upper body. Every time I leave therapy, I feel happier and I can feel my body relax. I really like robots because it keeps me in line when we walk outside and when we use the Lokomat, it assists me to where I can walk with great form for a long time! Bridging Bionics has come to be a one-of-a-kind program."

“This place is wonderful”. Sam has participated in many different therapies because of his lack of mobility and Bridging Bionics is by far the most innovative and positive of our experiences. Most therapy and therapists that we have encountered go through the motions without the hope that the person will actually improve and it is just a job. Bridging Bionics offers hope to serious disability and with it such a positive attitude that is their wish that the person succeed. It is indeed “wonderful!"

~ Susan, Sam’s Wife of 42 years, Sam Pacer, Stroke.

"I can’t tell how much bridging bionics has meant to us. Jan, my wife, has pretty severe Parkinson’s Disease. It has been a Godsend to have this program in place and she has been benefiting from the program and physical therapy. We are house bound, and it has been wonderful for the therapist to come in and I cannot say enough good things about it. She has benefited tremendously. If it wasn’t for Bridging Bionics and what it provides, she would not be able to move at all."

~ Ned Cochran, husband to Jan Cochran who has Parkinson’s Disease

"As an ambitious and competitive adult, working hard and playing hard are my way of life. When I was first diagnosed with MS in 2002 after having drop foot and taking a nasty fall during a training run, I told my doctor he was mistaken and that I was too busy with my law practice, raising my two children with my husband, training for marathons and triathlons, and otherwise experiencing a life well lived. Fast forward 20 years and now the triathlete can barely walk, but is battling back thanks to the efforts of the beautiful people at Bridging Bionics. Like many, I was first attracted to the Roaring Fork Valley for the skiing, then the hiking and the biking. The physical therapy and strength training I receive through Bridging Bionics is giving my hope that I can continue to live an independent life well lived in this this valley. It is a different life than I expected, but I am so blessed to have Bridging Bionics as an integral part of it. "

~ Salome Zikakis, Multiple Sclerosis

Luckily, those of us working with Bridging Bionics get help in that fight and are always working to regain maximum physical performance and rehabilitation.

Background Statement

Bridging Bionics Foundation was created to expand the use and validity of exoskeleton technology for therapeutic purposes with a vision to make exoskeletons affordable and accessible to neurological mobility impaired individuals through local community support.

After more than two decades of paralysis, Amanda Boxtel founded Bridging Bionics Foundation, based on her personal experiences with the use of bionic technology. Amanda resides in Basalt, Colorado and was able to raise sufficient funds to purchase her own bionic exoskeleton suit. Amanda established a training regimen using the device combined with the Galileo whole body vibration technology to improve her physical and mental wellbeing outside of a clinical environment.

Through this activity Amanda recognized the opportunity to share her good fortune and experiences with others. The foundation and program services assist to remove the barriers to access by establishing community support for bionic technology through shared or individual ownership.

Amanda's wish is that every individual with a neurological mobility impairment attains a better quality of life by regaining mobility,

standing up and walking.
