What We Do

BVHC: A Safe Haven for Abortion Care, gender affirming care, gynecologic care, STI testing, and more.

Despite the hostile political climate, BVHC remains a place where people can receive reproductive healthcare safely, legally, and without judgment. We are committed to protecting the right to choose—no matter how many obstacles are placed in our way.

Who We Do It For

We provide reproductive and sexual health care services to everyone, including all ages, genders, sexual orientations, physical attributes, immigration, or insurance status. The majority (60%) of the patients who receive our clinical services are under the age of 25. For young people under the age of 18, we offer confidential and low or no cost birth control and STI testing. For all patients, we offer low cost/sliding scale services when insurance coverage is not possible.

Why We Do It

We believe that reproductive and sexual health is an essential aspect of medical care. We believe that high-quality, affordable, and compassionate health care is a human right.

Gratitude from our patients

"Wonderful clinic. They are always kind and respectful towards me, offer good quality care across a large range of services, and the practitioners actually take the time to hear me and address anything I bring up. They are accepting and inclusive and work hard to make sure their services are accessible to anyone."

"Finding a women’s health center that truly cares about you and listens is so important, and Boulder Valley Health Center did just that. From the start, their customer service stood out—every time I called with questions about my appointment or concerns, the front desk was so kind, welcoming, and always checked with the provider to make sure I had the right answers. They really set the tone and made me feel comfortable even before I walked in.!"

-Gabrielle, October 2025

"Everytime I visit this place, the staff is so wonderful and warm. The doctors here are very caring and really take the time to listen. I always feel safe and appreciate the level of kindness."

- Heather, August 2025

"I was near tears with gratitude for how wonderful this experience was. The staff was compassionate and supportive every step of the way. Dr Shaunti took their time, was highly knowledgeable, answered all of my questions and was fully present with me the entire appointment. It was clear every staff member cares about the well being of their patient. In the past, I often put off doctor visits because my experiences hadn’t always been positive. But thanks to the kindness and care I received here, I feel more confident about prioritizing my health moving forward."

Background Statement

IT ALL STARTED IN 1973

In 1973, a group of local Boulder Valley citizens founded the non-profit health center Boulder Valley Clinic to assure access to counseling and abortion services following the 1973 Supreme Court's Roe v Wade decision that legalized abortion nationwide. Over the following years the clinic expanded its reproductive and sexual health services and in 1987, the clinic moved to its current location on Valmont Road as the Boulder Valley Women's Health Center. Over the last decade, best practices in reproductive and sexual health care were transformed by the Reproductive Justice Movement which moves beyond the focus on women's health and rights and asserts that all people deserve to have the power and resources necessary to make health decisions about their gender, bodies, sexuality, and families for themselves and their communities. Our new name and logo, Boulder Valley Health Center, was adopted in our 50th year (2023) and reflects our commitment-as advocates, community leaders, clinical experts, and educators-to creating a nonprofit organization that is inclusive and welcoming to everyone.
