What We Do
Boulder Valley Health Center is a local, nonprofit sexual & reproductive health clinic. We offer abortion care, STI testing & treatment, birth control, cancer screenings, gynecological concerns, gender affirming care, menopause support, free emergency contraception, wellness visits, and educational appointments.
Despite an increasingly hostile environment, BVHC remains a place where people can receive reproductive healthcare safely, legally, and without judgment. We are committed to protecting the right to choose—no matter how many obstacles are placed in our way. And most of all, we are committed to our patients and our community who relies on us for trusted, inclusive care.
Who We Do It For
We provide reproductive and sexual health care services to everyone, including all ages, genders, sexual orientations, physical attributes, immigration, or insurance status. One-third of the patients who receive our clinical services are under the age of 25, and over 75% of our patients have incomes under the area median income. For young people under the age of 18, we offer confidential and low or no cost birth control and STI testing. For all patients, we offer low cost/sliding scale services when insurance coverage is not possible.
Why We Do It
We believe that reproductive and sexual health is an essential aspect of medical care. We believe that high-quality, affordable, and compassionate health care is a human right.

IT ALL STARTED IN 1973
In 1973, a group of local Boulder Valley citizens founded the non-profit health center Boulder Valley Clinic to assure access to counseling and abortion services following the 1973 Supreme Court's Roe v Wade decision that legalized abortion nationwide. That make's us Colorado's first & oldest nonprofit abortion clinic.
Over the following years the clinic expanded its reproductive and sexual health services and in 1987, the clinic moved to its current location on Valmont Road as the Boulder Valley Women's Health Center. Over the last decade, best practices in reproductive and sexual health care were transformed by the Reproductive Justice Movement which moves beyond the focus on women's health and rights and asserts that all people deserve to have the power and resources necessary to make health decisions about their gender, bodies, sexuality, and families for themselves and their communities.
The name Boulder Valley Health Center was adopted in our 50th year (2023) and reflects our commitment-as advocates, community leaders, clinical experts, and educators-to creating a nonprofit organization that is inclusive and welcoming to everyone.
