The Boulder Housing Partners Foundation is working to address inequities in our community by providing access to opportunities for children and parents so that all children and families will thrive.

Because 90% of brain growth occurs in the first five years of live, early childhood is a critical period for human development.

Families participating in BHP's  life-changing Bringing School Home program, geared toward children 0-6, have access to safe, affordable, education-enriched housing provided by BHP, as well as community centers with libraries, computers, Wi-Fi, and spaces designed for classes and programs for children and parents.

Bringing School Home participants demonstrate their commitment to the well-being of their children and other children in their housing community in so many ways, including:

Enrolling their children in early learning programs that foster healthy brain development.

Participating in classes to reduce stress and improve parenting strategies.

Supporting in-home learning activities that nurture children’s creativity.

Engaging in leadership development programs to foster their own growth and connections in the broader community.

Tapping into emergency funds to support basic needs that cannot otherwise be met.

Ramping up tech skills with new computers provided to enable remote programming participation.

Leading their housing communities in enrichment activities and field trips.

Bringing School Home works closely with community partners to leverage the resources and expertise in Boulder. Donations support BHP's ability to connect essential programs to parents and children, provide families access to emergency funds, and work collaboratively with parent leaders to create supportive housing communities. We believe that it takes a village to raise a child. Please join our village and support young children to thrive.

Testimonials

"I have three daughters and one son, and I live with them and my husband. I am very happy since I signed up for the Bringing School Home program with Boulder Housing Partners. Being in this housing has really changed our lives since they help us pay less rent. But the most important part is the connection with the program coordinators. We have received a lot of help from them with information, and I have attended the programs for parents and parenting programs. I feel happy that I have learned a lot on how to have a better relationship with my kids. Before, I had a strenuous relationship with them and now I have a better one. Before I yelled when things didn't go well with them, but now I have more patience. With the programs, I truly feel different. Now I listen, and I make decisions together with my family and they are in the programs for parents and teachers. Being here has changed my life. Thank you to everyone who has participated with my family." --Program Participant

Mission

The mission of the Boulder Housing Partners Foundation is to help BHP residents pursue successful, productive and dignified lives by mobilizing resources for supportive, life-enriching, and community building services. Our work focuses on closing the achievement and opportunity gaps, and aims to provide low-income students and their families with the support they need to graduate from high school and attend college.

Background Statement

The BHP Foundation was incorporated in 2000 as a response to reduced funding of critical services for residents of affordable housing. The Foundation works closely with Boulder Housing Partners, the housing authority for the City of Boulder, which provides affordable housing to more than 1515 households in the Boulder area.

Though traditional funding channels (HUD, the City of Boulder, grants, and loans) help BHP provide its residents with physical housing, many of BHP's families need additional support and services to thrive and become self-sufficient. The BHP Foundation helps identify resources that BHP and its community partners can use to provide residents with these critical services in order to improve their lives.
