This year celebrates the 60th season of the Boulder Chorale. 60 Acts of Service, renews a commitment to outreach in our thriving arts community. From Boulder Chorale Singers:
"We relocated to Boulder from New York State 7 years ago and the first thing we did was to join the Boulder Chorale. This was the first place that we felt the camaraderie and friendship in our new surroundings. I have learned from every one and have felt fortunate to experience the high level of talent each has had to offer. I am truly grateful to be a member of this wonderful chorale."
"Tuesday nights represented hours of personal freedom and the chance to be supported by the community and rejuvenated through the pleasure of making music. I am forever grateful that this group existed when I needed it, and persists when my personal need is not so large but my desire to make music has grown."
" I can't think of a better way to deal with all the stresses of a major move than making new friends and making music - which for me go hand in hand. I'm so glad I've been accepted in this very vital, fun, well-organized, poetic, challenging - and very FRIENDLY - choir, with such an inspiring director. I look forward to many more years of making and sharing beautiful music with new friends in my new home town."
From Boulder Children's Chorale Parents:
"I wanted to tell you how much we enjoyed the concert on Friday. Our daughter has been in BCC for about 3 years. I just want to tell you that I've been working in non profit administration for about 15 years and the BCC is extremely well run. It's very organized with excellent communication and the musical staff as well as Julie are terrific with the kids and parents. We were so pleased to see how much it's grown."
"We support the Boulder Children's Chorale because we appreciate our directors' commitment to musical excellence and education. At every level our directors teach our children the fundamentals of musical theory and chorale performance. It is incredibly rewarding to see the progression of musical ability from the kindergarteners in Piccolini to the middle and high schoolers in Bel Canto. Together, the Boulder Chorale and the Boulder Children's Chorale provide a unique and wonderful service by offering musical education, experience, and opportunity to all ages within the Boulder County community and beyond."
From concertgoers:
"There aren't words to express how powerful and moving your concert was this past weekend. The caliber and beauty of the voices in the Boulder chorale are beyond compare. The soloist was out of this world!"
"Thank you for inviting us to see the masterpiece you've created."
"It was truly one of the most beautiful concerts I've ever seen and heard."
"My heartfelt thanks to you and to the entire Boulder Chorale for an unforgettable, fun and deeply moving experience."
From a guest artist who appeared with the Boulder Chorale:
"I sing with a lot of groups and a lot of conductors. But I have NEVER felt as welcomed by a group as I have with the Boulder Chorale. This is so much fun and I immediately felt a rapport with everyone here. Thank you for asking me to be a part of this."
Our mission is to enrich and inspire a broad community through music.
We are proud to serve the Boulder Concert Chorale, the Boulder Chamber Chorale, and the Boulder Children's Chorale, all of which make up the organization that is the Boulder Chorale. The Boulder Chorale was founded in 1966 when members of the chorus of the Boulder Civic Opera decided to create a separate entity available to the opera and to rehearse and perform independently. Notable music directors include Caroline Bowles Wayland (1968-1986) and Timothy Snyder (2001-2010). Dr. Vicki Burrichter has served as Artistic Directors since 2015.
Today the Chorale hosts a Concert Chorale and Chamber Chorale for adult singers, and four choirs in two locations (Boulder & Longmont) for children, differentiated by age and ability. There are 5-10 principal concerts each season, including our traditional holiday concert which brings together all 200+ singers to celebrate the joys of the season, as well as numerous outreach performances. Our Children's Chorale, recently celebrated its 15th anniversary with a commissioned work by Leigha Amick, a Boulder Children's Chorale Alumna. They provide sequential, comprehensive vocal music instruction for children beginning at age 5. It aligns with Colorado State Educational Standards with emphasis on Expression and Theory of Music, and our age-appropriate instruction is designed to have the most positive impact on the children's musical growth. Our Concert Choir recently performed with the Boulder Philharmonic on Beethoven's Missa Solemnis. The Chamber Chorale and the Longmont Symphony Orchestra presented Bach's Mass in B minor. The Chorale celebrates its 60th Season with a collaboration with Kuntandara and the Misa Tariro while our Children's Chorale concludes their season celebrating the musical traditions of Mexico.
