Boulder School for German Language and Culture

A nonprofit organization

Our school offers German classes for adults, teenagers and children. Various cultural and social events will encourage relations between German speaking areas and the United States.

Children and Teen Language Program:
Our classes for teenagers and children are aligned with the requirements of the Common European Framework of Reference of Languages. We prepare our students for the IVA 1 (Internationale Vergleichsarbeiten A1), IVA 2 (Internationale Vergleichsarbeiten A2), Deutsches Sprachdiplom DSD1 and DSD2. Please email for more information. We also offer private classes year-round for one or two students at a time.

  • Babies, ages 0-2 and CareTakers            

  • Preschool Students, ages 3-5 and CareTakers Music Classes

  • Preschool, ages 3-5 & CareTakers 

  • After school enrichment programs (1.5 - 2h/week + online) Level A1 - C1

Adult classes
For information on the various levels A1 (Beginner) – C2 (Advanced), please refer to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. For a self-assessment go to our link collection.If you have prior knowledge of German but are not sure which class is the right level for you, please email us or sign-up for a language assessment. We also offer private classes year-round for one or two students at a time.

Assessments 
We provide assessments for all new students and offer personalized class recommendations based on their results.

Exams for Children and Teens

  • IVA1 (Internationale Vergleichsarbeiten),  for Elementary Students
  • IVA2 (Internationale Vergleichsarbeiten),  for Middle School Students
  • Deutsche Sprachdiplom I,   level A2/B1- Middle & High School, grades 7 - 12
  • Deutsche Sprachdiplom II,  level B2/C1- High School Students, grades 10 - 12
  • Prep for German Advanced Placement Test (AP German - B2) - High School Students only
Exams for Adults
  • Goethe Institute, Level A1 - Ages 18+
  • Goethe Institute, Level A2 - Ages 18+

Cultural Events
For our community we offer various cultural and social events. Please join us. Cultural Events for the community include: Maifest, Fall Celebration, Lanternwalk, December Lichterfest and Treffpunkt Lesen Bookclub. Please view our School Calender here. 

Colorado Gives Donations will help us with the following community goals:

  • Scholarship Fund ($500 per family per School Semester)
  • International Guest Performance ($5000 for Guest Fee, airplane ticket and lodging)
  • Community Events ($1000 each)
  • International Competitions ($500 each)
  • School Materials ($100)
  • General School Programming

Mission

Since 2015 BSGLC has promoted the German language and culture through language classes, cultural events, music, literature, STEM, and art.

Our mission is to build an inclusive community where individuals of all backgrounds can explore and immerse themselves in the German language and culture.

Classes are aligned with the requirements of the Common European Framework of Reference of Languages (Level A1 - B2).

Background Statement

The Boulder School for German Language and Culture began in 2015 to foster the German Language and Culture in the Boulder Colorado area.
