The Beulah Valley Arts Council is a non-profit organization working since 1996  to ensure that the Beulah Valley is a community alive with the Arts!  Our mission is to promote awareness, understanding and appreciation for visual and performing arts, in order to enhance the quality of life in our area.

Our ongoing goals are:

  • to champion the Arts in Beulah Valley,
  • to support practicing artists and local art organizations,
  • to encourage economic development through the arts,
  • and to facilitate the growth in our community into a regional arts destination.

The Beulah Valley Arts Council organizes the Beulah Arts and Crafts Festival every year; 2025 will the the 69th annual festival. The 69th annual Beulah Arts and Crafts Festival will feature live music; 70 vendor booths selling art, crafts, and cottage foods; a classic car show; food trucks and a beer garden; and activities for kids. The event provides a venue for local musicians to perform in public, and for artists to sell their work to the public. The goal is to bring people from outside of Beulah to our small community to boost business in town and increase our visibility in the region. The mission of the BVAC is to promote awareness, understanding and appreciation for visual and performing arts, in order to enhance the quality of life in our area.  Our goals are to champion the Arts in Beulah Valley, to support artists, to encourage economical development through the arts, and to facilitate the growth of our community into a regional arts destination.

In addition the BVAC organizes the Beulah Fine Arts Exhibition every year, to give Beulah artists a chance to share their work with the public. Artists are awarded cash prizes in several categories, and have the opportunity to sell their work during the exhibition. This exhibition helps promote life-long working artists as well as encouraging up-and-coming artists who may have never had a venue to show their work in public.

In addition, the BVAC coordinates art exhibitions in the Dotson Cabin, a historic building that was moved into downtown Beulah in 2020 and re-built using period-appropriate materials and techniques. The Cabin is half museum and half art gallery, with First Friday opening receptions each month from May through October.

We also sponsor monthly art classes and workshops in Beulah, connecting local artists with a community that enjoys being able to learn art techniques in their own community, rather than having to drive to Pueblo or beyond to take art classes.

The Festival costs about $15,000 to put on; expenses include Special events permits and related fees; traffic control and street closure permits; insurance; advertising; sanitation; and payments to musicians and performers. Payments from vendors and car show entries help offset these expenses but don't cover the full amount. Any funds raised in excess of expenses go to our other initiatives, as well as to help support other Beulah non-profit organizations.

The arts council has no paid staff; all funds raised go entirely towards our programming.
