Back2Basics was founded with a simple purpose: to inform and inspire people. First as a magazine, now as an institution. Over the years, that mission evolved alongside the communities we serve.

That belief now extends across everything we do. Through our program, the Colorado Ethnic Media Exchange (CEME), we connect ethnic and community media outlets across Colorado with the advertising revenue and partnerships they need to keep telling the stories that matter most to those communities. And through 5280Vibe.com, our flat-fee event ticketing platform, we help make Denver's culturally rooted events more accessible to the organizers and communities behind them, cutting out the high fees that often stand between a great idea and a thriving event.

Our work has always been rooted in responding to real needs. When we saw that children in our neighborhood had minimal resources to explore their interests, we launched the Go Girls Pop-up Stand, a youth entrepreneurship program where young girls set a goal, start a business and serve their community. We host the Daddy Daughter Dance as a celebration of family and community.

Back2Basics remains culturally responsive and responsible to the communities we serve.

Mission

Back2Basics informs and inspires Colorado's communities through media, connection and opportunity.

Background Statement

What started as a print and digital publication has grown into a broader institution built around access: access to media coverage, to advertising dollars, to affordable event spaces and to opportunities for young people to build real-world skills. The throughline across every program is the same. We show up where a gap exists and build the infrastructure to close it.

For local publishers serving Colorado's ethnic and immigrant communities, that gap has often been advertising revenue. Our Colorado Ethnic Media Exchange (CEME) bridges that gap, linking these outlets with advertisers and partners who value reaching diverse audiences authentically.

For event organizers, the gap has been cost. Traditional ticketing platforms charge fees that eat into a community event's bottom line before it even happens. 5280Vibe.com solves this with a flat-fee model built specifically for Denver's cultural gatherings.

And for families, we created a space to simply celebrate one another: the Daddy Daughter Dance, an annual gathering honoring the bond between fathers and daughters.

Every one of these efforts traces back to the same conviction: strong communities are built one relationship, one opportunity and one story at a time. That's the work of Back2Basics.
